Has any one tried carrying airgun in local flight in checking baggage.
I read that there was some issue recently where a National shooter was stopped from carrying airgun.
Thanks in advance for the pointers

Three months ago at Mumbai airport I faced some problems.. first was proving it was an airgun and didnt need licence..needed to show them the pellets which was luckily recognised as such by one of the security personnel (1/5) even then I was transferred to a secure holding area.. kept my cool and since I had proper identification and Rifle association ID I was allowed to check in my airgun. Wasted about one hour!

oki, i did drop email to airlines they said that i should inform at the xray machine and fill a form and it should be in hard case.
I plan to break open the rifle, i would be putting it in normal suitcase.

be prepared to take out the airgun for visual inspection and not be embarassed by the other contents of the suitcase
