how good is HW77 ?

Post by rajveer » Mon Oct 31, 2011 5:29 pm

Hi friends
I'll getting my HW77 .177 cal in two days. :D :D :D
It is possible only by being a member of IFG, so I thank all here for the same.
It is an import and bought at international price, once again I thank IFG as I was not robbed by indian sellers.

Now, any one using it or having knowledge about it kindly suggest how good it is and how to maintain it , which pellet to use etc.

I thank in advance, eagerly waiting for your valuable inputs.

Regards.

Rajveer,

You have made an excellent choice. I own a TX200 myself but the HW77 will always be my favorite among airguns with open sights. Did you order the optional truglo sights with it? Here are a few links with info on maintaining airguns :
http://airgunner.org/?page_id=6
http://www.your-gun.com/airgun-accessor ... nance.html
Regarding the pellets, try a few different ones that are available and then zero in on the ones that work best in your airgun. Hope this helped. All the best :-).

Thanks alot prabhat,
like you ,I also have a tx200, but for some reason , actually not known to me also. I find open sight more interesting. This was the reason to buy this fixed barrel beauty.
The links provided by you are great and I will try to follow them.

Regards.

If both are new then TX200 much better than HW77. You can bring HW77 at per with TX200 only after giving a professional tuning.

You surely need to change certain parts immediately.
1. Seal - OEM seal of all HW is not upto the mark. After make seal is mandatory.
2. Spring - OEM spring is very badly made nowdays. Very harsh.
3. Guide - OEM guide they use filthy plastic. Change them.
4. Tophat- No tophat in HW77. You surely need one.
And the most important..Use good lube. HW is using lithium soap based grease..not recommended for airgun.

And if you need more professional stuff..change the entire internals. Pope makes them.
you will find some suppliers here airenlaces.blogspot.com, choose whoever you want.

I will consider all about tunning only after I shoot 5000 pellets through it,
At this moment I am thinking about an extended HONEYMOON , with my German beauty.

ok.HW77 will love medium wt. pellets like crosman premiers 7.9 & JSB exact dome. you can expect groups under an inch at fifty yards. enjoy.

While on the topic of HW77 can someone clarify if there is any difference in the accuracy between the
HW77 and HW77K ? Does the HW77K have any advantage over the HW77 except the barrel length and weight ?

"If you're going to use a scope, consider the 97K. The comb height is slightly higher for scope use. No open sights are fitted. Other differences are a shorter barrel than the 77K, and a moderator as standard. Internally, all three are identical, so you pay your money and you take your choice. As always try shouldering them both and see which feels best to you.

I think HW77 is a fantastic gun. Actually all HWs, are when it comes to build quality and accuracy. Let the gun fire about 1000 pellets, and I am sure you will be amazed by the gun. I have a HW80 and according to Tom Gaylord, every springer needs at least 1000 shots to fully break in.

Congratulations. You are not going to be disappointed with it.Once you hold it in your hands you will appreciate the build quality.

I had both 77 and 77K and also an AA TX-200.I like the the Weihrauch better. The trigger is the best out there.

Trigger is very personal choice though. Some says tx trigger is much better and some says HW.

I too have both have them. Both are scoped. Both I use for shooting over 30m.When I would like to use open sight I take my R7 and enjoy 10m :)
