First air gun

Dear friends,
I'm planning to buy a new air rifle sometime in the next two months. My budget is around Rs.3000. I need a springer - no gas probs. Any recommendations?

hi, you wont get a gas gun for 3000, i think, the only option is indian made airguns,thats all you can get in 3000, that too i amnot sure as i dont know the prices of indian airguns

Hi,

For your budget, I think best thing available is National. Go for .177 and have fun with it.

I had bought a airgun in 1998, in .22 made by Daw, its actually Daw 75 model.
That time itself I had paid 3k for that ..I still have it. its pretty good for its worth...

3000/- is sufficient to take care of a National IHP including courier through
road.

I got one for Rs. 2700/- sometime around Feb from Calcutta because in Hyderabad, the same item was being quoted at Rs. 4800/-

Hello All,

I have a few questions on available airguns. I have ocassionally used some IHPs and Diana at a friends place in school.

Now that I want to buy my first one I was curious as to what is the maximum permmisible mm available without a need for a licence in India.

My budget is around Rs. 15,000 to maximum Rs 20,000.

I am located in Bangalore and would be very thankful for any advise on reliable dealers.

But the problem is Cielo require more maintenance than a Maruti and there are not many gud ones around

. And as far as shooting range is concern .177 is the best caliber for target practice.

Thanks Inder for the thought. From what you say .17 sounds good.

Any makes in particular. I was looking at some links posted on the website and at airgunbuyers I fell in love with a couple of guns. BSA Hornet Carbine and else where I found Shinsung Dragon Slayer... droooolll but it looks like .5 and I am not sure if it is legal airgun without a license in India. HW97K MKII from Weihrauch is also very pretty. I like a look of a good wooden stock. Though most seem to be out of my budget though they are more affordable on some american sites.

The question is now what will I get in Bangalore and where so that I can buy one and head to a shooting range.

Looking forward to reflections.

IMHO If it's only plinking you have in mind - then accuracy should be more important than power... Even low powered air-rifles like the IZH-60, Daisy Avanti 853 etc. should do a good job and with their low/ non-existent recoil are probably a better option for a beginner.

Thanks for your reply. I was the best shot among 14 year olds in my school, unfortunately that does not give me enough confidence to buy $3K rifle yet

. But I am sure that if I am persistent should be able to do better than I expect myself.

Any hints on where may I find the cluster of Air Rifle dealers/importers?

I was planning to visit KSRA for the details for membership but due to my recent venture in the night shift my alarm blew a couple of times before it concked off. Lets see if I can sleep early today as I work from Thu-Sun. Some people work when rest of the world plays and sleep when rest of the world works. Life....

I am in agreement with you as regards to the accuracy in particular. The National that I had once used was find till about 20 feet and at about 40 feet it used to miss the target by inches. Absolutely waste. I am not learned enough to tune these guns plus they were my friends. He has an old under lever Diana (Rather his fathers) which used to shoot quite ok.

I am sure that for competitions you need one of those very futuristic looking guns but is it mandatory for a competition. Like is the normal arigun not qualified?Please forgive me for sounding very ignorant but this is a concern. $3K for a first purchase is a bit on the high end form me though I am open to the thought once I gain confidence in my ability to shoot.

No my question is are IZH-60, Daisy Avanti 853 and likes accurate enough. I was reading articles on the web about accuracy and they all come to express it in MOA (Minutes of Arc) some how none of the shops on the web or companies seem to express the same for their guns. Makes me loose some confidence in all of them
