Finally i got my first rifle...Canon LG 35

Post by harshsc » Sat Oct 15, 2011 7:58 pm

After a lot of research and going through various posts on IFG i finally zeroed in on my first purchase...the canon lg 35 in .177 calibre...
Seems like the dearth of National has pushed up the price as the gun cost me 4000 bucks from Olympic who are the dealers here in kolkata...i didnt get mastershot pellets so i have to make do with the united shot which they gave me...will buy the mastershot ones wen i begin practicing next month at the range.

Harsh, thats a tricky question. Try J Biswas, Esplanade. They should have Mastershot Wads. It would be good if you can pick up the Mastershot Wads in White Tins. They are really good ones. I even use them on my imported one. If you are planning to do a lot of shooting, then order in bulk directly from Mastershot, Meerut. They will deliver you 12 tins of 500 pellets (not less than this) for about 2k. THe number to call is 0121-2656599. You can do an account transfer and they will courier the goods to you.

JBiswas used to have P10s but I guess they are currently out of stock.

P-10 are normally in short supply so they are hard to find..Best is to stock them when they are available.

Today i took the canon out for some few shots today. Paper targets werent available at Olympic so i had to make a plastic bottle as my target. Accuracy wasnt that bad as i missed a few in the beginning. However after some adjustment to the sights the rifle did well and i was hitting the desired positions even in windy conditions from around 10 metres. Maybe lack of complete accuracy maybe due to my own errors as i was using the gun fir the firs

Maybe lack of complete accuracy maybe due to my own errors as i was using the gun for the first time or maybe die the united shot pellets i was using. I hope to improve at the range next month after my exam. Here are a few pictures for fellow IFGians.

The velocity should be about 520 fps with a 8.2 grains pellet. It could increase if you tune the rifle professionally.

Bro- for that you need to go through the various posts in the forum. I really dont have much idea about tuning. You need to strip down the gun and the lube the internals and the main spring. But I have not done it myself hence have no idea.

You can get paper targets from http://www.targetz.com. You don't need to buy them. Just print them out and use them. You're going to have a hard time fine tuning the accuracy of your gun if you don't use it on paper. You're also going to have to shoot paper to see what kind of accuracy you have now, before you think of increasing the accuracy.
If you don't have a printer, just use a pen to put a dot on a sheet of paper. You don't need "official targets" to check accuracy.
“Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never – in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense” — Winston Churchill, Oct 29, 1941
