Commonsense says that depends on which discipline you are competing in.Also, AFAIK, one applies for a NPB or a PB license while applying. One does not mention calibre.

Again, the question arises what do you do to strengthen your application. Are you a member of a rifle association?Have you competed?Received training? What evidence can you provide in support of your claim?

Has anyone disassembled the bolt into its main parts, like the firing pin, spring and bolt shroud? Any views?

I'm working on a disassembly/reassembly tutorial on the IOF. Will post it up here once its done.

Thanks. I presume it would be the same as the Sauer 202. Just want to know the quality of the innards, especially the firing pin and the spring.

That is not a question that can be answered, unless you specify the particular loading. The original 150 gr. ball load at 2,700 fps. had a range of about 3,400 yds, quite a bit less than originally calculated and claimed. That is at maximum elevation. So, as an approximation, let's say from 3,500 to 5,000 yards.

As to the 200 yrd and 300 yrd drop of a .22 LR, the same applies. What specific load? Mid-range trajectory for the .22 RF and bullet drop are not normally supplied for the .22 RF beyond 100 yds, and that range is stretching the barrel. In any case, a lot. You may be able to google it.

The maximum effective range of .30-06 is around 1000 yards (900 meters)

Also to keep in mind the bullet can tail off to around 3500 yards

hi vineet the effective range of 30-06 rifle is much more then 900 meters depending on loads, weight of bullets etc.a bullet of 165 grains weight and standard factory load would be traveling at 1100 fps or above at 1000 yards you can calculate yourself how lethal it will be at 2000 yards as no data is available and no one have utilized that range for a 30-06 cartridge as we guess that will be 200 fps then it is lethal and cause serious damage on any living thing.but no no one has come nearer to that range in practical. after 1000 yards 30-06 bullet when it is traveling below speed of sound it becomes very unstable and you cant shoot nearer where you wanted that why they calculate effective range to 1000 yards but range is much more .so never fire your rifle unless you have some kind of stopage in front of you to stop the bullet traveling further. you can fire a rifle straight up in air and returning bullet to earth will be not harmful or will be very minor thanks

For a beginner/amateur, you are trying to teach the grand daddy of guns how to cough.

Effective range is different from range i.e. the distance the bullet travels.

As I have mentioned before "range" seems to mean a lot of different things to different people. Especially so on this forum. However, range of a bullet is the maximum range it will travel at optimum elevation. A physical fact. I assume you meant "Barrett" when you wrote "Berretta", as any rifle would outrange a pistol.

"Effective range" is a subjective definition. It depends on the weapon it is fired from, the shooter, the sighting equipment, the target, the user's perception and definitions. So, before you accuse someone of talking nonsense, become knowledgeable enough to be able to ask the question intelligently, and specific enough.

Please read and observe Point 6. of the forum intro. No text abbreviations.

Hi Ashok,
I understand what you and TwoRivers are trying to say and agree with it completly.

I knew it would be difficult for a beginner to understand that so I posted in a language that would be easy for him to understand.

lakecity_shooter: Knew I had the information about .22 RF bullet drop someplace, and here it is: 200 yds/ 72.93" = 1.852 m; 300 yds/ 177.12" = 4.5 m. This is for the standard velocity, 1100 fps loading. (From "Hatcher's Notebook")

Really OT for the topic, but since the question was asked here...
