Military collectibles
Was just browsing through internet when a friend of mine asked me to check out Olive Planet. It seems like an oasis for military enthusiast who want quality military themed products.
They got a goody in form of M9 bayonet. Just wondering whether it is legal or not? Blade length is 7.5 inches. I thought anything above 6 inches is illegal. Please advise.

Re: Military collectibles
Most of the M9 bayonets available are cheap Chinese knock offs, check with them and see if this is manufactured by one of the US Dept. of Defence contractors or just a knock off. Google for information on the list of companies contracted out by the DoD to manufacture these knives. Ideally it should be from one of them along with a DoD acceptance stamp, which means it is as per spec.
7.5 inches is fine, in fact anything up to 9 inches is fine.
If I were you and was OK with a knock off OR even if I was looking for the genuine article, I'd check out e-bay (US site not the Indian one). Plenty of sellers there offering such items and much lower prices. Not all will ship to India, but quite a few will and some at fairly reasonable shipping rates.
Cheers!

Re: Military collectibles
I see that this is an Indian site hence length is not an issue anyway (and Abhijeet has already mentioned the correct length).
I fully agree with him on the ebay deals. I have picked couple of knives from ebay and believe the deals were breeze. The last shipment was delivered to me in exactly 5 days including a weekend. Look for the vendors urknifesource or acreativeedge on ebay. They do have mind blowing collections to offer.

Re: Military collectibles
Does anyone know where a genuine used Fairbarn Skyes Commando Dagger can be sourced from. Such a legendary knife!
Thanks

Re: Military collectibles
While the vintage ones will cost you a packet, Fairbairn Sykes are still being made in UK and the current production can be had for reasonable prices. IIRC there were a couple of UK based sellers on ebay offering worldwide shipping included in their cost. I came across them when I was looking for a decent machete for farm/ outdoor use. Interestingly, they (the UK sellers) are not allowed to sell to UK residents anymore...

Thank You Abhijeet. Are these just blatant copies or is any manufacturer licensed to reproduce, if so any recommendations please.mundaire wrote:While the vintage ones will cost you a packet, Fairbairn Sykes are still being made in UK and the current production can be had for reasonable prices.
