Re: Airgun import experiences - via post/ courier route
I want to purchase HW80 or Magnum 350 from online store. Since its not available in Ebay.in, can someone suggest me some website from where I can safely purchase it online (example ebay gurantees that if the product does'nt reach you, you can ask for refund thats SAFE)? And what all formalities do I have to go through for purchasing such items from online?
Thanks in advance

Maverick: In India with the current state you can never have a online store to purchase brand new Air Rifles and in reality there are no courier companies that ship Air Rifle / Pistol.
- If no NRAI membership there is no way out to bring in a rifle
- Please don't try your luck on importing one from USA or EU and then trying vent your tears towards the country's current state
- Best way is too check with your local arms dealer if he has a Indian or Imported Air Rifles (If Imported don't compare with the international prices)
Rajveer: Thanks for your feedback.
As well stated by you, importing with the required documents will keep you safe from all trouble.
Keep your fingers crossed till the time the beauty lands at your door step

Re: Airgun import experiences - via post/ courier route
Hi,
i see mail on import of airgun by post which is nowhere close to 2011.
Can anybody update me the current scene ?
I am looking for crosman discovery .177.
can somebody guide the extra add on's & whether all of it can be bought in together.
my contact can mail me USPS & custom declared with signed delivery ?
I understand that it is cleared by US custom but whether Indian Custom will clear it ?
GOD BLESS ALL WHO RESPONDS.
at least we all learn.

Re: Airgun import experiences - via post/ courier route
Current scene is not a problem if you have the relevant documents.
Yes you can buy extra add-on's but no pellets. However you might have a 30% customs duty on the add-on's
USPS is quite trouble some as the product would be shipped to the neared Foreign Post Office. If the Customs in the Post Office are aware, there shouldn't be a problem. Better choice would bew to pay few extra bucks and ship the same through FedEx
Top of it. Please don't end up importing your are not affliated with NRAI as US will clear your shipment but Indian customs will hold back the shipment and be prepared for a run.

Re: Airgun import experiences - via post/ courier route
After one month ten days I received my Benjamin Discovery ,with this import I had quiet new experience which I would like to share. My dealing with Mumbai customs was through Fedex.Over period of 15 days in 3 installment fedex demanded documents, After scanning and sending all copy I had to courier bunch of documents to fedex. Then I was summoned with original membership card at my convenient date to Mumbai Cargo Complex(MCC)
At MCC I faced two groups of custom officers, 1st superintendent of customs(SC) ,as usual typical
sarkari babu,egoistic,rude,frustrated,ill-mannered,sadistic,comfortably ask for unrealistic documents which I cannot produce...(Like NRAI membership is must,Police NOC etc..). 2nd Examiners of customs(EC) surprisingly polite, young, very well mannered, decent, happy to help type,First I met SC then EC.
They (EC) went through my documents ,agreed that everything in order and nothing else is required as per the rules except yes from SC.EC went to SC thrice ,at last SC demanded certificate from Maharastra rifle Association(MRA) that Savarkar air rifle club(I am life Member of same)is affiliated to MRA.
With request MRA issued certificate ,which I forwarded scanned copy through email(as promised by EC they will not demand anything extra) and rifle was released same day.

Re: Airgun import experiences - via post/ courier route
I recently imported a Beretta PX4 storm 0.177 cal air pistol from Pyramyd Air through the internet. The cost of air shipping was almost as much as the price of the gun itself. The parcel arrived by FedEx at Mumbai airport within 4 days of my ordering it and was cleared very quickly from Customs, duty free after I submitted the relevant documents. The most important one of course is Membership to a Reputed Shooting Club. The pistol is very accurate and is powered by CO2, the only problem is that CO2 cartridges cannot be shipped by air and have to be sourced locally. I got a supply from an importer in Delhi for Rs 105/cartridge.
So if you are a bonafide member of a reputed Shooting Club its really quite simple and hassle free .

Re: Airgun import experiences - via post/ courier route
To clear the shipment of air gun even after presenting proper
document entirely depend on the mood of concern custom officer.
Though my previous three imports were delivered at my
doorstep within ten days of payment, for Benjamin Discovery
I had to do lot more than it required .
Any Govt. officer is capable of interpreting law and rules
as per his/her convenience. In my case even though
Savarkar air rifle club had mentioned in membership certificate
about affiliation with NRAI through MRA . Custom officer
demanded another certificate.
Certificate carries certain legal responsibilities, you never need
another certificate to prove that first one is right ,
everybody knows it.But here officer wanted to pass the time,
He was just not in mood to do his normal job.
Even after this episode I must admit that air rifle import is easy,
Benjamin Discovery is my 2nd import this year.

only one questition ,
Are savarkar club allowing you to practice in their range with Benjamin Discovery?
And if you intend to , participate in competition , what your club has to say, what are your chances with Benjamin Discovery?
Regards.
