Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
hi
reading this thread since its inception inspired me to buy my own .22 lr
the problem i'm facing is that the spent casings don't eject and have to be pried loose with a screwdriver
live ammo ejects okay, so i belief the catcher is okay
so why does the ammo get stuck after it has been fired
ammo i'm using is KF
should i try with phoren ammo
regards
ds

Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
deepinder: Your problem is most likely that the rifle has a firing pin that is too long, and the rifle has been dry-fired.This will raise a burr at the chamber mouth. When fired, the case expands onto that burr, and the extractor slips off the rim. The firing pin should not extend beyond the rim of the bolt face with the bolt uncocked. That seems to be a problem with the IOF .22. The burr can be removed easily enough by a gunsmith, if you can find one; or a tool to do so can easily be made on a lathe.

Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
carbine: Bullet placement is the key, not caliber. The .22 RF is quite capable of killing something much larger than a fox with correct bullet placement. But unless I am mistaken, killing foxes will get you in trouble with the law. I don't think that they are on the list of vermin that can be killed.

Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
Accuracy depends on the individual rifle, and the particular cartridge used. Yes, .22RF can have very good accuracy at the range it is intended for. As to the second part of your question, in countries were hunting is permitted, but NOT in INDIA, it is a good cartridge for small game or varmints at short range, as long as you can place your bullet.carbine wrote:is IOF.22LR has good accuracy or could be used for pliking or hunting

it depends on your luck, i saw some where that the BSA tubeshot might come around that range.

Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
WOW, 45k, i think thats a great deal if its really mint, which i doubt.
We have bsa 15 tubeshoot for more than 30 yrs in the family, extensively used by my grandfather then my mamma, never faced any issue in firing, accuracy or maintenance. If i had to buy it, i would have bought it.
yea there is one issue, check the gun as the bsa sporter, i dont recall seing any provision for Scope mounting. So make sure to check that if you are interested in scope mounting, as the IOF has that option.
Pics would really help.
