Law for carrying Empty cartidge

Post by sonuvecv » Sun Jul 17, 2011 10:16 pm

Dear Friends,
Yesterday I was detained at Gwalior airport as security find one empty(Fired ) cartidge in my LAPTOP bag which was left inside by mistake.I showed them liscense and told its only a fired shell. But I had been told that carrying live or blank cartidge is offense of similar degree.Fortunately Commanding officer of CISF appears and he is a good friend of my father,so I was able to catch my flight.
I request to seniors kindly enlighten me about the Law about possesion of Blank cartidge

A blank cartridge is just a piece of brass and is no offense under arms act. In India sometimes overenthusiastic cops who have an exaggerated and twisted understanding of arms act can cause unwanted harassment.

Not just in India. I know of a man who was detained, and missed his flight, for having a lead ball for a muzzle loader in his pocket. Ignorance and stupidity are universal.

You could have told 'em you put the empty cartridge in the bag cause you want to get a ring made out of it, I had a bullet with me which I got from a friend who's father is a cop. He said he got them in police training range. I was checked by cops once and they found it, I simply said I want to make a ring out of it and it was alright. AFAIK wearing rings made of FMJ bullets is a common practice among youngsters here. (I'm worried about the lead though)
When I'll get to shoot a gun?
