These conjoined twins need your help PLEASE HELP
Dear IFGians,
i think we all should give a second's thought before making any expenditure on ammunitions , guns , hunting trips ( for members outside India ) and any kind expenditure that amount from from few hundred thousand for ammunition to few lakhs for a weapon . i think if we are so well off that we can spend so much of money on a weapon which has the sole purpose of ending a life then i wish that my friend ifgians can and will also spend some money in saving two very beautiful lives . i have recently become a father of two very beautiful twins boys so i could not bear the pain to see two more lives fighting for their right to live independently . so i request all my friends on the forum please do something your way and make donations and help them please please please . a rifle cost minimum 2 lakhs on the forum and consider Rs 5000 donation compared to it . not much but will great help for the kids .
Thank you every one

Re: These conjoined twins need your help PLEASE HELP
Please watch what you are saying.i think if we are so well off that we can spend so much of money on a weapon which has the sole purpose of ending a life.
While i am not saying these twins shouldnt be helped,
Please also note that thw media people you are quoting have more money than 99% IFG combined and if you go to NDTV wrap up paeties etc. they spend more money on booze than us on guns or than what these kids need.
Please note this media business to spike up their TRP's.
The state and central govt. have chief minister/PM Relief funds to help people in need. These funds may be availed even for private treatment not just Govt. one.
And it doesnt need massive contacts to access those funds i mean certainly not that massive that NDTV cant achieve.
Again please note i am not saying these girls dont need our help or that we shouldnt help them.
If you want us to help you then good for you but please ask for help in keeping with the spirit of this forum; not making people feel guilty about having their passion.
You will get more replies than current zero.
there are also ferrari forums and rolls royce forums also forbes forums. No guilt-tactics posts there.
You are new here so please take time to understand the spirit behind this forum and write accordingly.
BTW your username is of a man whose (according to you) biggest contribution was production of stuff whose sole purpose was to end life.
I can understand you got carried away. Please pm and ask mods how to change your username maybe to something like Alexander flemming or jennings or to christian bernard.

If he got carried away , in my opinion he got carried away for a good cause.shooter wrote:I can understand you got carried away
Clearly he is not asking for himself.If you want us to help you then good for you but please ask for help in keeping with the spirit of this forum;
The gun manufacturer and dealers also got more money than most of us, then why fight RKBA and airgun license battles, let them do it.Please also note that thw media people you are quoting have more money than 99% IFG combined and if you go to NDTV wrap up paeties etc. they spend more money on booze than us on guns or than what these kids need.
If you are so concerned by guilty tactics, why dont you protest or post on forum about that fairness cream which use same tactics,No guilt-tactics posts there.
Or insurance/mutual funds ads which show parents as guilty if their son could not get a degree from a US varsity.
Or that tiger conservation ad which tells we all are guilty if tigers vanishes from earth
Or that green brigade who say that we should use less of electricity, fuel , SUV , CFC otherwise the earth is dead, aren't they too using guilty tactics.
Thanks and sorry if this is also against 'the spirit of this forum'

dear aglover please note that i will defend the way guns are potrayed on the forum.
callig them objects whose 'sole purpose is to end life' goes against the forum whatever the cause.
I was being oblique in my hints but seems that i dont know about him, you certainly didnt get it.

James was definitely at fault for portraying gun singularly as killing machines. But i think it was only for antithesis effect.
85% of your post was about the 'guilt tactics' thing and such. Not a single line about how gun were being portrayed by him.
Either you could have helped the concerned ones or ignored his post like 80 other people have. (when i last saw it there were 83 views of this thread and only 3 replies )

Re: These conjoined twins need your help PLEASE HELP
While I don't doubt that this is a worthy cause, I often see requests for funds and a bank account number.
There is usually no mention of how these funds will be used, who is administering these funds or what percentage actually goes to the beneficiary.
I'm sorry but I am (and it looks like a lot of others are) a bit skeptical about funds that are setup with no disclosure made about their administration. While this may or may not be the case in this situation, there are just too many people out there who are willing to profit from other's misery.

I didn't bother to reply as I could not understand why they needed lakhs of rupees for an operation that is performed in Government tertiary centres for token amounts....which are often waved off for poorer patients anyway. I have worked in such an apex centre myself and looked after worse cases of conjoined twins. Hence my opinions are not speculation.
If the newsmen were really serious, they would have organised a speedy referral and help the family jump through the queues, hoops and red tape that most patients face in an overcrowded, over worked super speciality centre. Rather that create a knee jerk appeal for people to dig in their purses. But we know which one is easier to do.
This is a shooting forum. If anybody needs to alert us to what they perceive is a noble cause, there is no need to fly off the handle. Most of us work hard, enjoy our passions, have good hearts and help others in need. To lecture us to be guilty of what we do just because a child somewhere has a congenital anomaly is a mark of senility.
By the way, there are more doctors on this forum than you can see, most of them choosing not to add the usual prefix.

Re: These conjoined twins need your help PLEASE HELP
James, I don't have a problem with you bringing up a situation that is trying or needs attention. From personal experience, I know what it is to be in a difficult situation where there seems to be nowhere to turn, and right now, I have friends in those kinds of situations.
So, I do well know how emotional one gets.
But understand, James, you are here in a brotherhood of gun owners -- you are not going to find receptive ears to plead your case to if you savage and criticize other IFG members. You need to face it: Here at IFG, there are hunters and there are non-hunters. Together, though we may disagree about hunting, we work together here to forward the cause of IFG to promote the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
You do a disservice to RKBA and to the cause you wish to bring to IFG's attention by immediately alienating half of the membership here with judgmental attitudes about hunting.
Also realize, when you place this before us, you may not be alone -- you do not know the hearts and lives of the rest of us! I have a Punjabi friend here who at a very young age has just incurred about $1,000,000 (That's right -- one million US dollars) in health care bills in order to save her life. I think the news is good, but now she realizes she will be under that burden for the rest of her life -- there are other factors, too, but my heart breaks for her.
I want you to understand that people here at IFG are GOOD people -- they have all taken in a person like me and you really don't have any right to deliver sermons to them until you have walked in their moccasins.
Please, place your situation before IFG like a gentleman, and I will assure you that people will do what can be done. Consider the responses: shooter, xl_target, and hamiclar01 are among the finest gentlemen here -- perhaps you have not been around long enough or interacted with them long enough to know this -- even more reason to consider your words more carefully!
I have placed concerns of my heart on the General Ramblings forum to share with the members, myself. I have seen people respond, as well, so I am not criticizing you for bringing up a tragic situation that has touched your heart -- instead, I admire you for it. But please, consider your words when you make such a post -- this is all I ask.
aglover, you have not been around here for very long, either. I ask that you think about this matter, as well.

How do those guys feel if one says this will make one more human on earth or asks them what name was on his/her/their birth certificate?i think if we are so well off that we can spend so much of money on a weapon which has the sole purpose of ending a life.

Dear James Purdey,
We all applaud your noble sentiment. You are a fine example of an aware individual. The point of such a forum is to encourage discussions and draw out disparate opinions, which it did. Please do not apologise, as you had merely put your point across, as did we. I'm sure you understand our discomfort, which I do not think you intended deliberately.
Lets hope the children/child do well

NO!
NDTV can easily get any poltician or hospital/surgeon to handle this case, if they want to help.
If one of you dies, let us know, we'll run a RIP column.
Dont please post tear jerkers here.
I have kids, I nearly lost one at birth; and I have switched off enough ventilators and handled NFR requests to know what I'm talking about.
There are other fora for humanitarian needs-use those.

last I checked Shooter, Hamilclar ,Timmy or I didnt shave our chests, do facials or use fairness creams. We really couldnt give the proverbial rodents cloaca, if some one-or you - did;so why are you proselitysing about what we should do or not do?
If the greens use guilt tactics, their spin merchants write the story...I dont see the need to protest on THIS forum about the issues you have mentioned.
If you want to go out and kill the last tiger, be my guest-tribals did it with poisons and snares, am sure you can do a better job, you may even get some crooked forester to come along and give you a hand?
Actually you arent the least bit sorry about the 'spirit of this forum' and you know it. Since this forum does not match up with your aspirations or ideals, please be kind enough to disappear and dont bother slamming the door after you.

i answered hamiclar01's PM matching the way he lettered it to me; it was good manners when he did it, but 'acid private pen' when i did to him what he did to me. He also becomes my 'victim'.
He first doubts whether i contributed or not-
It goes like this:
H: Have you contributed yourself?
ME: No/Yes
H: No! then who are you to talk any further about this, you are hypocrite for asking others to do what you have not yourself. We can do it coz we have helped many
H: Yes- 1. So what ? you have done it to feel snug and have a halo. Do you know where this is going to go? Obviously not, as you are now snug and bear a halo of having "helped" someone.
2. it will most likely not reaching them ,
3. even if reach them most probably not coming to their use
it is ok if THEY flame someone, but its wrong if it is done to them.
THEY can doubt someones intention, but its unholy even to think of doubting theirs
THEY can ask someone to 'disappear' , i fear what will be their reaction if they asked to do the same.
sarcasm is ok if used by THEM, but offending when used on them
reminds me of school bully's. You can not question them or their actions but its OK when they do it.
He first doubts whether i contributed or not-
after i PM him what steps i have taken and satify his 'interest', he saysI'd be interested to know how much YOU are contributing
If i was 'snug' and had a 'halo' to show, i would not have PMed him, i would have flaunted it to the whole world. You dug in your purse and contributed, good for you. Do you know where this is going to go? Obviously not, as you are now snug and bear a halo of having "helped" someone.

those sentence by me where only analogy to explain my point.last I checked Shooter, Hamil...............................................................ng and give you a hand?
