Crossman 1008 RepeatAir Owner - Need some help & advice!

Hey guys, this is my first post here. You have NO idea how glad I am to see a whole community come together for their passion. Didn't expect this for sure

Anywho, I bought a Crossman 1008 RepeatAir when I was 14 I think, I'm 24 now, so a decade ago (Cheers for my dad for spoiling me rotten).

I love my little pistol, however, ever since I moved to Mumbai 5 years ago, I haven't used it much. It's been lying idle in my drawer for 4 years or so (Albeit no pellets has A LOT to do with it).

Now my query is as follows:

1. Is there any place in Mumbai and/or a member who specializes in cleaning/servicing CO2 Pistols?
2. Can I get it repainted without damaging / affecting it's performance?
3. Where can I buy CO2 Cartridges and Pellets (.177 cal, assuming 7.5gr or around it would work best).

I'd appreciate any help ya'll can provide!

Welcome to IFG!!!!

I don't have sufficient data on your air pistol as i am also new here...But i will try my best to provide you with some light on your queries.

1. The odds are there will be. It is better to rely on yourself than to give your system to an armory shop. The amount of time your pistol remained idle is too long and you have not mentioned whether you had provided any protection against dust and moisture while the pistol was in your drawer. I hope you had removed the cartridges before you stored them. If not, then i think there is a need for serious cleaning and servicing. How ever before you give your equipment, i hope you will take in to account what other IFG members have to say.

2. I believe you will be able to repaint it with out affecting its shooting parameters. For further information, refer to articles on Gun Care & Gunsmithing Section on IFG.

3. Since you already have CO2 cartridges picked up, all you have to do is find a refilling source. You can depend on local suppliers willing to cooperate(which i doubt, especially after 26/11) or can buy a large CO2 cylinder and use it at need. But you need to fabricate a connecting system which would allow you to refill the cartridges from the main cylinder.

0.177' pellets are the most widely available pellets in the world. You will find them at all local armory shops.The price of each packet will depend up on the Number of pellets, Brand and Quality...

Well, my pistol was well protected from dust, for sure. I kept it in a box, in an air conditioned room, in my drawer with my other treasure.

It hasn't been used in the last 4 years, my brother snuck it out and used it with his gf the first year when we moved in.

What I should mention is that the gun looks like it's in pristine condition, I checked most of it's functional parts and they seem "A" okay!

I'm looking for branded pellets tbh. Crossma, Gamo or the likes. As for the CO2 cartridges, refilling them - not sure if it's really worth it. Last think I want is to damage the gun or my fun factor

I can always buy it off ebay, but the shipping amounts to a lot. Worst case scenario I'll get some ordered from Dubai.

But my most important query still stands - I want to get it "serviced" just for my peace of mind. I have no clue how to go about it, nor do I have the necessary equipment. I would much rather pay a helpful member for his/her services than go out to a store.

For .177 imported pellets, check out the MSRA range in Worli... am sure there would be plenty of shooters who frequent the place, that can be convinced to part with a few tins... and these chaps usually would have match grade pells... else join MSRA and buy directly from the association yourself...

Glad to know that you had the pistol in its box.

As Abhijeeth has pointed out, you can get a lot of advice and support from people from Maharashtra State Rifle Association(M.S.R.A.), Worli. If you have spare time, go down there and try to meet some people. You don't have to take a membership just to get familiar with the people down there. I am sure they will be able to guide you in the 'Servicing' problem.

Refilling the cartridge is the most economical way of operation of a PCP. I assure you that if properly done, it will not do any adverse damage on your pistol. How ever it is up to you to decide whether to use newer cartridges.

I had goggled to get details on your pistol. Most of the reviews about this system were average or negative. Any way here is the owners manual and Parts diagram of the older and newer version of Crossman 1008 Repeat Air Pistol.

Thanks, but the MSRA isn't an option. I'm in the suburbs, barely have time to sleep in my line of work, let alone take out leisure time to go to a shooting range.

I'm going to call for the pellets from Dubai. As for the servicing, doubt I need it at this point, just wanted to make sure it was in good shape, but since I don't have any option, I'll try to do as good a job as I can on it. Order some cleaners online via eBay etc.

Aside from that, thanks for the Manuals Shadow. As for the online reviews, I don't really care for those considering I bought this at an age where the gun was all I wanted, didn't care which one I got. Not to mention, 10 years ago the options in Dubai were quite limited. The title of a decades ownership far outlasts any title of owning a sightly better brand/gun purchased a year or 2 ago. I fulfilled my childhood dreams, and I'm quite grateful for that!

Point being, good or bad, it fires accurately for target practice, the rebound recoil isn't even noticeable and it feels really good when I hold it

Holla at me if any members from Mumbai wanna lend me a helping hand / recommend some decent stores etc.

as for this particular pistol the only maintenance you need to do is put a drop of automatic transmission fluid on the tip of the co2 cartridge before you puncture the sparkle tthis will ordinarily give your o rings a new life if you hear a sound of gass discharging ( leaking ) then just operate the weapon a few shots for the oil to spread this should close a minor leak

Mr shah sells co2 sparklets for 120 a pop THEY CANNOT BE REFILLED

Hi Guys

I have an old crosman 1008 repeatair and got the co2 sparklets from Mr.Shah after seeing this thread. Thanks to "sawbones".

I have problem with the gun. The gas seems to escape every time I insert it and squeeze the thread. Iam attaching a couple of photos since I did see a mention of "O ring seal" or "seal" and there seems to be none in this gun. Is there a place in Chennai to repair this?. Any advice on this subject is welcome

That green thing is the O-ring. If you can lay your hands on pell gun oil then put a drop on top of the powerlet before you puncture the Co2 powerlet. The pellgun oil normally cures the seal by making it regain its elasticity and occupy the correct place. Pell Gun oil is supposed to be silicone oil, try to source it from anyone selling gym equipment like treadmills, they have tons of silicone oils with them.

Cudor try the pellgun oil trick first. Very few gunsmiths will be able to service this pistol. Do not give it to anyone or needlessly try to service it. All it needs is a drop of silicone oil at the head of every Co2 cartridge. I had the 1008 too, the problem is that this pistol isn't made for long term ownership, it's a use and throw type. understand that I am not talking down, it is just the way this particular pistol is. If the seals are fine then just shoot it and enjoy it. It will work okay with match pellets, in fact the wadcutters made by gsmith called p-10 should be good.

Hey Doc ,

It is safer to use 2T oil. The ATF we get here may have detergents added or for some other additive, it cuts seals up. It messed up my Crosman 2100 seals royally, how is it doing on your seals?

I used the treadmill oil and it did not work. The gas is leaking through the barrel as soon as the sparklet gets punctured. Any suggestions please?
