Obtaining Arms License *Help*

Post by inatorni » Tue Jun 21, 2011 6:19 pm

Hi all,

I live in Australia, and have been a member of a sporting club for almost 6 months now. We use the guns provided by the club as and for recreation shooting. I am accessed to .22LR Revolver and .38 Revolver with a probability of upgrading to higher calibres after some more practice. Only in this small duration I have gained a passion for guns and want to own my own gun back home in India.

I am aware that the gun laws back home are quite stringent and complicated, I am not even sure on what grounds I should apply for the arms license as I read somewhere on the net that applying for a license for the purpose of self defense might not be considered as genuine reason for possessing a fire arm. Apparently, I was looking for the license for a .32 Revolver from IOF.

I was therefore just wondering if anyone had success with obtaining there licenses in India on any suitable grounds and willing to share there experience with me and also what if I approach a arms dealer directly in this regard, could they help me attaining a license legitimately.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks all

@inatorni,
you can obtain a licence for self defence,the rules are tough but it is possible.There are many topics in the legal eagle section on how to obtain a licence,and the experiences of members in this process.It will serve you well to read these.
Arms dealers cant help.Its all you,
Good luck..
