Dear learned friends,
I will be visiting dubai in the first week of july this year for some business interest.
while coming back I intend to buy and return with atleast 3 to 4 air rifle/pistol in .177 cal. for my personal use ony,
that are available in dubai. I am a member of Maharastra Rifle Assocition and know about the exemption for the rifle club members.
But to avoid any trouble by the hand of custom officer's I wish to file an RTI application and wish to carry the reply with me.
I am going to mention the fact that I am a club member , attach the notification of exemption and wish to carry in baggage 4 air rifle/pistol .
Now how should I draft the question so that they give me answer that can be useful, as we all know most of the time answer to RTI is so vague it is of no use.
Pls also help as to what other questions that I should ask so as to make the task easier.
Waiting for ur suggestions,
Regards,
Kuwar.

Re: help needed for RTI application to mumbai airport customs
Hello Kuwar,
I met the Asst. Commissioner at RTI Cell at the customs commissioner's office today. If you're buying an air pistol or a rifle, you need to have your club ID with you at the time of clearing. Carry the copy of DGFT notification. That will be all. Declare your rifle or pistol at Dubai airport, and you'll have to get in in the checked-baggage. Also, check with the airlines as well, because many airlines are skeptical about air guns and stuff. Avoid connecting flights. Thats it.
Cheers,
N.

You'll be allowed to carry only 1 rifle or pistol.
