cartridge quota endorsement
Dear learrned friends,
Pls help out,
I have a hand gun license issued by C. P. Munbai for protection, it was issued in the year 1997.
Right now I have an endorement of 250 a year and 50 for possession for the ammunation and my license is due for renewal in few months.
few days back when I went to a gun store to buy cartridges the gentlman told me to be very cautious as ,at the time of renewal they might reduce ur ammunation quota to 50 per annum and 30 that u can possess at any time.
Pls help how can I get over if this kind of situation is faced. I am a member of MRA and currently participated in few air pistol compitions.
Regards,
Kuwar.

Be one step ahead. If you have some documentary evidence(like membership of shooting club etc.) to show that you do target practice with this handgun, apply for substantial increase in ammunition quota instead. Give reason as "target practice". If they say that your license is for self defense, say that you need to do regular and sufficient practice for self defense. Your life is more precious than winning a medal in some shooting competition.

Thank u very much sir goodboy_mentor, for ur prompt suggestion.
Also thank u dr.jayakumar. for ur seconding the opinion.
But do they have any legallity in doing so, because the gentlman who told me to be cautious ( the gun shop owner in mumbai) . Told me that they were about to do the same to his own licencse and he created a scene there with all HALLA BOLLA, and asked them to show the rules. And they reniwed his license without reducing ammunation quota.
if any thing to this asspect.

Kuwar.

No. Since in this matter they have no fear of punishment from law, if they do the undesirable, then you may have to pay regular visits to High Court to get justice. That will cost you time and money. If you ask my personal opinion then, in my opinion various sections of arms act are ultra vires because in my opinion RKBA is a fundamental right under Articles 19 and 21 of Constitution. I have tried to explain this at http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... 15#p117785But do they have any legallity in doing so

Re: cartridge quota endorsement
Make sure that you buy off your complete quote for the year, while maintaining only the permissible 50 rounds at one time. It will be obvious that you actually utilise your sanctioned quota and hence you can argue your case better...if the need arises; instead of hunting for answers about an unutilised sanctioned quota....

Re: cartridge quota endorsement
I have a quota of 150 cartridges on my license but how many can I posses at a time? It is not separately mentioned in the license. The exact wordings are "Number of cartridges increase from 25 to 150 (one hundred fifty only) for each weapon".Can I posses 150 at a time or 25 only.kuwar wrote: I have an endorement of 250 a year and 50 for possession for the ammunation.

Re: cartridge quota endorsement
In legal jurisprudence it is well established that if something is not written or the meaning is ambiguous then that thing cannot be used against the person. Therefore if it is not separately mentioned then it would mean 150 at a time.
