Hi Guys

As every one would agree that India is marching into a new revolution for a change, and there is a common feeling that has restored the lost faith in citizen rights and people are again harbouring a belief that "we matter and can change" the Nations fate by eradicating rampant corruption (although a massive task and would eventually put a majority of Govt Babus behind bar).
Now during the Swami Ramdev ramlila Maidan Fiasco, a news head line caught my gun loving senses " that the so called right hand man of Baba Ramdev Acharya BalaKrishan has a rifle and a pistol on his name, and believe me it was not in an aplauding way, the media was painting a civillian
(not sure if he is an Indian citizen) with a fire arm as a person with a criminal intent " we need to challenge this general view point of the MHA and people alike that any one who owns or wants to own a firearm has vested intersets he want to protect and that firearms will magically turn him into a gun weilding maniac overnight.

Although there are certain reservations right now regarding the legal aspects of this news such as
1. Are the firearms in question legal license fire arms (which logic says they would be as such a high profile person cant be so foolish, but then you never know..)
2. Is he a recognized citizen of India (he is a nepalese national and there is some ontroversy surrounding it and the legal aspect of foreign nationals bearing fire arm

Now the heading says a window of oppurtunity because

As per the preceding scenario the UPA govt will leave no stone unturned to teach the yoga guru and co a lesson in what ever way they can, so i think that we may see a lot of news regarding the firearm connection of the yoga guru and it will have the whole national audience, now if the above reservations are cleared then cant we (IFG, RKBA & NAGRI) take this oppurtunity to reach out to the national audience and have a debate on national TV that Gun Owners are not criminals ans anti social elements and educate people regarding their right to keep and bear arms, we can discuss and warn public over the intentions of MHA on amendments of the arms act and other issues that we often fret about on IFG, there can be an oppurtunity for the NAGRI representatives (Abhijeet and Rahul) to appear on prime time deabtes on news channel and educate people about the hidden agenda of the MHA and UPA govt of disarming the whole nation and resticting the Indian citizens from their rights of bearing arms, and who knows we acn get a lot of supportes to our cause both citizens and politicians . I am sure there are plenty of news channels which can give a slot to such a debate in the current turmoil.

And i think this is what NAGRI and RKBA all about, to educate as many Indians (no criminals pls ) as possible and defend their birth right to own a firearm and the peril of a fire arm owner in our country these days.

This was just my take and views and would love to see other forum members to give theirs and if situtaion that is discuused arises, then to take it forward.

That can back fire; I read a news that the Baba is contemplating on setting up militia of 11000 armed men and women and if he goes ahead this then it can turn nasty for RKBA.

However, what we can do here is counter the argument that they are making regarding the Lokpal bill which is that the bill needs to be in line with the Constitution of India with the fact that the MHA passed an order (V-11016/16/2009-Arms) which is illegal and unconstitutional and without following the proper parliamentary procedure which infringes upon the right to keep and bear arms of the law abiding citizens of Republic of India and further more they are in the process to amend the arms act in a way which would again infringe the fundamental right (RKBA) guaranteed by the constitution and also add that when it’s their i.e. the politicians neck is on the line they talk about Constitution and how new laws should be in line with the Constitution and when no one is looking these same people go ahead and screw the people of their fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution by subverting the Constitution and show such utter and blatant disregard for Constitution to which they swore an oath to uphold and protect.

Thanks to people like His Holiness Ramdev Baba giving open threats of armed retaliation, our cause of RKBA will always be walking on the tight rope

Irony of the matter is that we do not have an explicit enumeration of RKBA as fundamental right like 2nd Amendment of US Constitution even though RKBA is guaranteed under Articles 19 and 21. For this it becomes very necessary to approach Supreme Court so that it utters that RKBA is a fundamental right under Aticles 19 and 21. Unless Supreme Court utters this fact, very few politicians are going to support this fact. To understand that RKBA is guaranteed under Articles 19 and 21 please search for "RKBA Article 19 21" in google without inverted commas. The first link provides a detailed explanation.
