Histroy does not have any known record of Tribals having hunted themselves and their quarry to extinction. It's the non tribals who have encroached on their hunting grounds with roads, railways, mines, industries etc which has led to the decline and devastation of the natural habitat of wildlife. This has led us to the sorry state we find ourselves in. Do we feel morally superior to these tribals by trying to enforce our moral standards for the misdeeds that we bestow upon them under the umbrella of development?

SRSwamy, its a well known fact that animals are being killed by commercial interests in India
The Full grown tigress in Hyderabad Zoo in 2000-Any culprit to date? and ad nauseum, No tigers left in Ranthambore or one of those parks? Sorry if I get the names wrong
So, you polishing upto the usual 'sensastional' yellow rag special ?
Alright, alright. So, why take it offensive and use this dead horse emoticon? Did anyone accuse a tribe here? Or did anyone accuse the native? If you read the word "
local culprits" as tribal people, even then, the article clearly says it is unclear. No prejudiced comments ever meant, intended. I just re-posted an article which I came across, to spread the word. I had also mentioned the declaration of interest, especially. Please note the cause here. So, why such a reception? In fact, the above two comments from Jonahpach and eljefe seem to favour groupism, categorizing me into a category where I do not belong to, for mere sharing of a news???
@jonah -- Neither did I claim myself as superior to the tribes, nor did I degrade them. Or, have I? The logic escapes me, where did I involve the tribal people in the picture? In fact, I had highlighted the point the locals were the first ones to inform the police, not the forest officials. It would be better, if you make it clear.
With no offense or harm meant to anyone, with no intention to de-mean anyone, let me quote my points here:
Yes, in India, animals are being killed for commercial interests. So? In India, ALMOST EVERYTHING is done for COMMERCIAL interest. I think it applies for the rest of the world too.
Let me consider your point, that tribal people are really innocent. The truth is, knowingly or un-knowingly, they contribute actively towards poaching. Immediate argument from the advocates would be "loss of crops/livestock, agony, economic condition, blah, blah". The truth is, THEY DO contribute towards poaching, actively. That is a reason, I have always strongly voiced my opinion in involving the tribal people as a part of any conservation program.
Before you frown, the tribes who are the native inhabitants of the forest lands are being "exploited" by the traders, poachers and the middlemen, for whatever reason.
I had voiced my opinion several times, in other few threads, and even quoted examples of how the "Eco tourism in India and Africa" and "Masai Mara Lion Conservation" works when the tribal people are properly educated and involved into the conservation with a positive approach. I am not the one who holds anything against the tribal people and their ways of life. In fact, I am all in for positively utilizing them for the conservation efforts.
Gentlemen, the intent of sharing this article was only to bring an incident to the notice of a large group. So, I humbly request you, not to steal the focus/intent of the topic by posting "reserved" comments. Is it too much to ask for??

While I agree with you to a great extent, most of such incidents are not reported by the Indian Media first. It is either done through the websites of the people or organizations for wildlife conservation. For your kind information, this particular article source is not just Indian Media, but a much bigger group.
