hi.......when i first got my liscence ,even i opted for the Semi auto .22 rifle....i downselected Remington and Winchester .22 Semi Auto rifle....but the moment i saw the CZ Brno mk2 ,i totally fell in love with it ,its abolt action though ...but operational is lot simpler than the Semi Automatic rifle.....and i bought it and very happy with its accuracy and maintanence easy.....but in a Semi Auto Rifle is quite complicated,sometime it tends to jam during fire and the fore most problem is that you cannot clean or oil up the inside parts..and even cleaning up the barrel is a comlicated process....though its not prohibited..i suggest you to go for Bolt action rifle :)

You Live in canada and u easly get parts but in india no parts and note even some good cleaning stuf is found and u know how gunsmiths r in=india foreign country is better and lot of choices there but in india u allways get 2nd hand riffles and u even dont how it has been used so in india is allaways better the simple riffles or guns so i must say bolt action is the best for all purrose

Hi, Kenny what i understand is semiauto gun is Prohibited in India so how he know about semiauto rifle, i have 5 semiauto rifles and i dont know how many time i clean and oil those parts never have a problum ,i dont know why you said you easly get the parts? why you need a new parts?, in India if you have a choice only for bolt action then stick with that , i just like to say this semiauto rifles is not that complicated if you know what you doing

Complicated, no way, .22's are blowbacks (breechblock, recoil spring, that's it). Just a tad more cleaning of the action, yes. A toothbrush, rag, pull through/or crown protector and rod, should suffice.

Too bad .22 Rf is PB, half the fun is gone when the action has to be cycled manually!

About .22 Semi automatics, here is what the MHA has to say about it....

SUB.- Arms Act and Rules - Semi-automatic .22 Bore rifles - Grant of license to members of rifle club/Association.

I am directed to refer to your letter No. 7222-R/VIII-B-644L/67, dated 20.11.1967 on the subject mentioned above and to say that the provision in section 13(3)(a)(ii) of the Arms Act, it would be observed, does not make any distinction as to the type of .22 bore rifles in respect of which a license shall be granted under this provision. As such, licenses under provision of the Act shall be granted in respect of all types of .22 bore rifles (including semi-automatic type). It may, however, be noticed that the use of the weapons covered by a license issued under this provision of the Act, is to be restricted to target practice only.

(GOI/MHA Letter No.F.13/7/68-P.IV dated..... 1968 to the Secretary to the Govt. of U.P., Home (Police-B.II) Department, Lucknow).

For quick reference.... Section 13(3)(a)(ii) of the Arms Act 1959.....
13 (3) The licensing authority shall grant -
(a) a license under section 3 where the license is required -
....(ii) in respect of a point 22 bore rifle or air rifle to be used for target practice by a member of a rifle club or rifle association licensed or recognised by the Central Government;

Adds to the confusion eh?

One of our members here has a semi .22 in Delhi.

If only he'd spend less time fishing and contribute his legal experience :mrgreen:
