It depends on the shooter. Some people like pistols better than the revolvers and vice versa. Go for whatever you feel comfortable shooting. Personally, I love pistols over revolvers. I am a proud owner of a Glock 23.

Pistol can jam, but if revolver shot doesn't fire, u can quickly fire 2nd and 3rd, in pistol, u have to use 2nd hand to remove jam catridge.

A well mantained reliable pistol will beat a revolver any day. Once again shot placement, reliability and comfort with the weapon will matter more than all the academic talk of revolvers over pistols or vice versa.

I will trust my Cz 75 over a revolver any day. I keep it in top condition, and use decent ammo when I do carry.

Just remember it really doesn't matter which you have in your hand. What matters most is the person behind the weapon. If you are ready to defend yourself, they you will have already taken those steps necessary to ensure that your equipment functions the first time and that if it doesn't, you know what to do to remedy the situation with out having to consiciously think now what do I do.

Over the last 40 plus years, I've carried revolvers and semiautomatics from .22's up to .45 and never felt undergunned with what I had on me at the time. And yes, things can and do go sour very quickly especially when you least expect it. Better to have a .22 double barrel derringer in your pocket than a .45 in the safe at home, when the do do flies up and strikes the rotating oscillator.

Unless the spring is over extended or compressed past design limits, keeping a magazine loaded constantly should have no effect on the magazine spring's life.

Design limits, however, mean little when the material isn't up to that "design spec". Unless that mechanical engineer is into spring manufacture, he's just spouting theory. Trust me, both spiral and V springs can take a set if left compressed over a long time. And a lot of the current wire springs never seem to have been up to design specs. Granted, most people don't load a magazine fully, and then not look at the pistol for thirty years. But that "myth" didn't come up out of thin air. Cheers.

Yeah! Only Revolvers...

I hope we all remember the unfortunate shooting incident that killed an Agra Jeweller.

If only he had a Revolver may be he would have survived... in the above video, the jeweller was quick enough the draw the pistol but unfortunately it did not prove to be worth it's salt.

...true. There's a WWII vintage 1911 with a far relation in my family and I get to handle the maintenance bit. It's had 7 pops in the original magazine for the last 6 years without recess. Still a stiff thumb buster.
