Election in Tamilnadu

Post by Ganesh TT » Sun Mar 27, 2011 5:17 pm

Dear IFGians

I have a doubt that due to state assembly elections going to held on apr 6th in tamilnadu, police has announced that to submit all the guns, pistols and other arm weapons in the nearest police station. Is it applicable for Air rifles & pistols also.
I own .22 air rifles and i have not used for long time since the elections date got announced.
Thanks

I do not think you have any cause of worry. Even courts have held that arms of only potential trouble makers are to be collected. Even the Election Commission's circular is very clear about it. It clearly says that review of only those, released on bail, having history of criminal offenses and those previously involved in rioting etc. has to be taken, out of them only, their weapons are to be got deposited. So no question of even reviewing the others or asking them to deposit any arms arises. This matter has been discussed very well in this thread at http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... 45#p130560
