Hey!

Post by sniper22 » Thu Mar 10, 2011 4:33 pm

Hey!
I'm new to this forum and its been a while since I used my air rifle which I bought as a kid. I am interested in getting back into the shooting sport and have enrolled with MRA (awaiting my membership). Sadly living in Mumbai leaves us with very few options of getting into the sport. Look forward to interacting with fellow IFGians and getting valued inputs as and when required. Its great to see a forum with so many knowledgeable, helpful and experienced members.
Thanks and regards,
sniper22(due to lack of a better handle)

Hi sniper22,
Welcome aboard and greetings from another Mumbaikar. You could try a cheaper membership (AP/AR .177 only) at Savarkar Smarak AR Shooting Club, opp. Shivaji Park. They also have refresher course from 7-9 (AM/PM) - Check out course details with them at 24455578 (Neelam or Dhananjay). Good luck and happy shooting.

Hi airgun_novice,

Thanks for your greetings. I did visit Savarkar Smarak AR Shooting Club and found out about their courses and will be doing the basic air rifle course from there. The Reason for joining MRA was its proximity to my house- its walking distance.

Thanks for your inputs, much appreciated.

You are welcome sniper22. Just take care while lugging the piece to-fro MRA from your residence since that area is in close proximity to the Sea Link. Though you are at walking distance, I hope you shall drive and keep the AG concealed. :-) In India (especially places like Mumbai), though not officially, it's a good idea to carry even AP/ AG concealed. ;-)

BTW, I was stopped there once for a "routine check" - thankfully, I didn't have any piece on me then and they didn't ask me to open my trunk. Told them I was going to Worli PO - showed them filled up KVP forms and that was it. I was let go.

To be fair to the cops - May be they had seen me "check out" that area 2-3 times while I was trying to figure out how to get to the PO - all thanks to the intricate "No Entry" and "No U-Turn". How much traffic pattern that area's changed since Sea-Link!

Sharing an advice that was given to me - "ALWAYS carry your Club Card if carrying an AP/AG." :) Baki -

airgun_novice thanks for the heads-up will surely keep it in mind. As of now I don't have an air gun as the one mentioned earlier is sitting in the loft in a rusted state (thanks to the sea) and is a .22 so in any case can't be used at the range. Have another gas blowback airsoft pistol great looking with an amazing reload action but useless for the range. Will wait for a bit before importing either a pistol or rifle.

I agree the traffic pattern has changed a lot since the sea link, ask us people staying here and facing it everyday.
