Some pics would be really helpful

So evidently, you have not seen the firearms in person and you are saying what the Mumbai dealer has told you..... 90% condition and so on ..... Don't be so naive mate !

Best would be to check out the guns yourself and then discuss the details here . Remember A/A dealers are great story tellers . :D

I aint a guru, but given a choice between these 2 in same condition, i would go for the Miroku. This is owned by Browning, its one of their cheaper line of product and browning is any day better than Winchester when it comes to O/U, splly for the competition shooting.

It would be interesting to read debate on this brand on the shotgunword
http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtop ... 82&start=0

Also you can get some idea from these
http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/guns/126769 ... eview.html
On this may be you can search for more reviews, spply if you have the model details also.

What is the asking price, just out of curiosity. :D

I have had the chance to tryout a miroku overunder and it felt really solid and well built. On the otherhand the winchester pump action that i tried out felt light, flimsy and choosy with ammo. I think provided the Miroku is in proper working condition and has not been fiddled with, it would be a better choice for indian conditions.

i would differ. ANY browning/miroku is not better than ANY winchester, specially a tried and tested model like the 101.

since our friend has not even seen the guns, i suppose all of this discussion is pure timepass

The Winchester Model 101 was also made in Japan, though not by Miroku. "Kodensha", I believe was the maker, which was partially owned by Olin, Winchester's parent company. They are both near copies of the Browning Superposed. Winchester never produced an O/U, only SxSs. Nor did "Browning" produce any of the Browning labeled guns; they were either made by F.N. in Belgium, or in Japan, for "Browning".

i. you came asking for specific advice, not for general chit chat. refer your first post on this thread, (complete with a baffling eye rolling smiley!!!)
ii. not sure why you flog dead horses to pass time? or do smileys, mostly inappropriate, just hop over and stick to your posts before you even realise what happened?

Another one added to the list of non makers :), every time or the other brand turns in this list, where in the big name just sold it, smaller or lesser known ppl made it.

I think the original ppl to do outsourcing were the Gun makers 8)
