My new Crossman 1377; Courier Nightmare
Hi,
Brought a Crossman 1377 from Shri Siddharth Singh one of our forum member, after seeing his sale thread in the sales section in the month of November 2010. The deal went smoothly after agreeing on a price, I sent the money to him and he promptly couriered it by DTDC Couriers on 11.11.2010. Then started our nightmare, DTDC booked it by air mail and the package was offloaded at Delhi Airport purportedly by the CISF authorities which was reluctantly reveled by the DTDC after severe follow up by myself at Secunderabad and Siddharth in Agra. In the mean time we were given a wide variety of reasons for the delay, fortunately for us we had insured the parcel.
I shudder to think what would have happened if I had brought this from any of our other members of the forum who post that they are not responsible once the item is booked. Here I would like to convey my sincere thanks to Mr. Siddharth who relentlessly took up the matter with DTDC at all the levels and put in tireless efforts by issuing show cause notices and legal notices. After failing to elicit satisfactory results, he filed the insurance claim and threatened to take DTDC to the consumer forum. After protected correspondence and personal chasing and hounding the booking agent, the packet was returned to the booking agent who in turn handed it over to Siddharth, who infact had brought it to the notice of the booking person that the parcel contained an Air Gun!!!
Finally I made a trip to the Taj city and collected the gun during the last monthend. Siddharth took us for the tour of the city in his Maruti Gypsi and also hosted lunch for us.
I wish to thank him for all the wonderful work he did and for his hospitality. Well thanks to the forum too for I have made a friend for a life time.
Here is a link to the pictures of the Gun.
Thanks,
Srinivas.

So DTDC was sending the pistol to you from Agra to Secundrabed via Delhi, that too via air.
Sounds fairly roundabout.

Sri,
At the time of giving the package to DTDC did you declare that it contained an airgun? Did you specifically ask for surface transport?

It might be the only way, but it's still roundabout. last time I checked, Delhi was still north of Agra and both Secundrabad/SikandrabadSRI 420 wrote: Hi hamiclar01 ,

Re: My new Crossman 1377; Courier Nightmare
DTDC is total cr--p, once I sent documents to HYD from another state and they did not deliver it and say area of delivery out of their reach.
anybody who use post or couriers have gone trough similar nightmare, me .... quite used to it
it happens with any kind of items wifi card, knife, any electronic items. if you did not follow up ... they just taking it for their personal pleasure.
recently I ordered from MEC check piece and other items for my wife's walther alutec rifle. it was not delivered and on the way BACK detained by Mumbai custom. I submitted all documents their requested , each time after I submitted documents I got letter - Your documents been reviewed please submit following documents and same way 3 times. After I call some friends they dispatched parcel back to Germany, and MEC resend it without any additional charges and I got it in 5 days.
Please post text of letters and where it was send here. It can help a lot to others.

Srinivas / Siddharth.
Sorry a bit OT here. - can you please let me know where you got the scope mount for this gun.
I have an old crosman and am looking for similar mounts that attach directly to the gun.
Thanks

The answer is yes and no. Well yes for declaring that the parcel contained an Air Gun, in fact Siddharth had also offered to bring the parcel to DTDC for Inspection and then seal it there. No request for specific Surface transport was made.
Yes I agree that it IS still north of Agra, but its the only place from where direct air connectivity is available for Secunderabad/Hyderabad for Cargo.hamiclar01 wrote:It might be the only way, but it's still roundabout. last time I checked, Delhi was still north of Agra and both Secundrabad/SikandrabadSRI 420 wrote: Hi hamiclar01 ,

Your best bet would be GATI. They are very professional and many people use them to transport air rifles.

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.
