Re: An Original Mizo Bowie
Awesome work Jonah. I think you are in line to become the first custom knife maker in modern India. You are resurrecting a great and respected art form and we defiantly need that. Please accept a huge 'THANK YOU' from a knife lover like me.
Do work on your branding and packaging too as your workmanship is good and the product is well tested (By Nagarifle). This will take it to another level altogether.

Re: An Original Mizo Bowie
For those who came in late..
Here are some of my selfmade tools at work.. (later to be posted as how to make a riflestock)
And also pics from my previous posts.. I gather some of the links have been broken due to my attempts at trying to get organamized
I dont remember when, but somewhere down the line I lost my PM facility and so sorry I cant keep in touch. Here's my email as an alternative : [email protected]
BTW. Thanks a lot guys, I had almost forgotten about the bowies. At present I have started blueing all my knives as the mirror polish does not last long under actual prolonged usage.

Re: An Original Mizo Bowie
Very nice, thanks . Do you have pics of the blacksmith shaping the blade from spring steel blanks. That would be very intersting too see.... How's the tempering done for these blanks ? What's the thickness of the blade at the spine ?
What do you use to get that lovely mirror polish on the blade, I have an Old Khukri lying around that I had picked from Amritsar which I want to polish. Lastly any cheap and easy way of getting knives blued? How long does the blueing last in prolonged use.
Thank You.

Re: An Original Mizo Bowie
Hello Moin,
The knives are approx. 4.5mm to 5mm thick at the spine. Tempering is done with oil and cold water (Its a secret) Mirror polish is a long process of removing scratches and file marks manually with a stone and then with a polishing wheel and cloth.
here are some more photos..
Various knives in diffrent stages of completion for local consumption..
