Re: Airgun import experiences - via personal baggage route
That is true and if ur luggage is unloaded and rechecked then you might have to surrender the gun. If the luggage is checked on Cathay through and through then it might not be an issue.

my bro whose planning to get in a pcp from usa to india has been told that it requires a fac arms licence and a export permit both from usa and also from indian customs.does this mean it is th end ofpcp carriage into india-these are the latest TSA rulkes-any comments.will this also affect the import of pcp or airguns through courier or post or not.

Andy, please check the TSA website as there have been some amendments recently, however this one is not there as far as I can recall. There is a new directive which bans export of all types of optical scopes out of the USA to individuals.

First of all....You need to have your Rifle Club membership in place. You are only allowed .177 cal which is fine....unless you are ona power trip...
Airgun purchase in Singapore may be very costly or probably impossible as they have some serious laws on airguns.
They have been known to even impound airguns TRANSITING thru Singapore from US to India.

I am a new member here,
I am interested in acquiring an airgun from abroad.
Two questions, any help about regulations in singapore regarding buying airguns by foreigners there?
Secondly, I am a pilot and would like to know if i can buy one while i am there on duty?
Rest all questions have been very ably answered by the members in this and other threads.
thanks

Guys HongKong (transist) is definetly a no go in terms of import of air rifle through personal babbage route. HK has very tough gun laws which means even if you are tarnsiting through HK, Cathay Pacific will still require you to get permission from HK police/customs.andy_65_in wrote:Hi folks what is the way out of this problem, a change in airlines or route or whatandy_65_in wrote:are there any restrictions on carry of pcp airguns in cathay pacific flights to india which will have a halt in hongkong bcoz my brother has been warned abt it by cathay pacific-they sayu there are some chinese govt restyrictions on pcp carry in honkong only
The best route I have heard so far to get an Airgun from USA is Emirates via Dubai
Please refer below email from Cathay Pacific regarding my enquiry to import Airgun:
Dear XXXXXXXX,
We understand that you want to carry the AirGun from USA to India.
There are many formalities and approvals to be taken from both sides.
Since you are carrying the gun from USA, you will need to check the formalities in USA.
The airline would need to know the purpose for carrying this rifle to India.
Even to transit HKG, the law requires owner of arms and ammunition to obtain the import licence or permit from the authorities concerned in advance.
The Main features are that the firearm has to be unloaded and securely boxed. It has to go as checked bagage only.
The approval of security department is required at all ports including transit at HKG.
Please take necessary action from your end .
Thanks

Re: Airgun import experiences - via personal baggage route
Hey guys!
A friend of mine(currently in US) wants to bring back a CO2 airsoft pistol(blowback action etc.) and a few co2 cartridges along with it!
Does he need to declare it or need a special case for it. It'll go in the checked baggage for sure. Will there be any hassle in getting the co2 cartridges along with that?
Eagerly awaiting your replies!
Thanks

Re: Airgun import experiences - via personal baggage route
Hello all,
I’m preparing to bring a Diana Mod 34 Classic from Germany with Emirates.
Emirates is asking for an "import permit" document that states that i can take the Airgun into India.
I don’t know which office can provide such a certificate in India
Being in Germany, how can i produce such a document
Indian consulate has said they don’t have any thing to do with it.
If any one shares your experience on how to convince the airline that the Airgun does not need all this, i would be very very happy!!
Thank you!

Can I be honest.kamal wrote:

Some pen pusher at Emirates is conjuring up a rule to save his/her backside. On the other hand, any Indian babus involved will be covering their backsides too, and will neither take responsibilty, or issue clear directions . Even if such a "permit" was required to bring back an airgun, (there isn't), they would not issue one easily anyway.
My personal suggestion: Change your airline, if you can't, prepare for a bye bye airgun.
I only fly with airlines that have a helpful, clear baggage policy regarding airguns/firearms. I either stick to one I have flown with airguns before (Jet and Kingfisher have been VERY helpful), or I ring/ email hassle any new contender till I discover their policy..avoiding those that seem "backside coverers".
If such a step involves me paying extra for a ticket, that was cheaper with a not so helpful competitor, so be it. A few extra bucks are well worth my peace of mind, and satisfaction.
