Grandfathers DBBL

Hi guys, i need some help on a matter.
My grandfather owned a DBBL which he had deposited in a police station in delhi.
He passed away last year unfortunately.
Now my grand mother wants to gift that shotgun to me.
towards that aim, i am getting an arms license.
what about getting the gun released and transferring it to me. how will that happen?

Apply for NBP shotgun license for "family heirloom", do whatever legal formalities are required. Once you get the arms license, get the DBBL of your grandfather released and endorsed on your license.

alright, so i get the arms license, then what?
i am not the legal heir, my granny is, what does she have to do?
any paperwork or guidelines that i can follow?

I inherited all my weapons.
In the application form there is a part which asks "Why do you need the weapon".
You have a very valid reason.
You can mention that you are inheriting the weapon from your grandfather. Also mention that your grandmother (the legal heir) is old and is not in a possition to keep the gun.
Don't think there should be a problem.
Also attach a copy of your grandfathers licence and the deposite receipt of the gun.

one more thing friends,
my permanent address is in ambala, haryana, but have been residing in delhi since donkeys years, in army accomodation or on rent.
now i cant see a rule which says i have to get my arms license from the district of my permanent address. so can i get it made from delhi(the delhi police site also makes no mention of the permanent address restriction) and quote the inheritance reason or from ambala??

You can apply for arms license from the place where you are normally residing. It also means you should have some documentary proof of residence like telephone bill etc. in your name and if asked by police officer who comes for inquiry, neighbors should be willing to tell the fact that you reside there. Do not suppress any information that is asked in application form.

As i am staying with my mother, about the only address proof i have is that my bank account statements come here to this address(private bank,not nationalized).
plus i am thinking that as my birth certificate has my mothers name and the rent agreement is in her name, the address proof should not be an issue?
