Trying to hack my account?

Post by CZHarry » Fri Feb 25, 2011 1:14 am

Once in a while I need to log back in. Such was the case a few moments ago.
I logged in as usual, and this is what I got.
You exceeded the maximum allowed number of login attempts. In addition to your username and password you now also have to enter the confirm code from the image you see below.
Since I only tried to log in one time, and my password was correct, I wonder why the software thought I had attempted to log in wrongly, 6 times prior?
Maybe someone was attempting to use my account for something other than good intentions. Hmmmmm.

sometimes frustrater set up a fake website and email such log ins to scores of email address, if the email say to click the link and give out pass words etc.

do not do so.

as they will capture your passwords etc. best to link direct to bank website. As no bank will ask for passwords etc via email. when in doubt delete the email

It's probably just a 'glitch' in the software. Probably nothing. But if I were the paranoid type, I may think that someone that didn't like me, or just a troublemaker, tried to log on with my username, then tried 5 or 6 password combinations, hoping to luck out. Then once logged on (as me), he might go ahead and make disparaging remarks about the forum or others. Everyone would think it was me, and I would get banned.
But that's if I were paranoid, which I'm not.

Harry and others, it's most likely a glitch in the software.I and others too experienced similar message. However, it is safe always to have a strong password instead of any meaningful words or phrases.

your password was not CORRECT -100%

there is no any glitch in software - don't make a case from your own mistake

try all again, log out type wrong pass - and that is what you get.

those guys who can hack will never waste a time to hack passwords from some gun board.

Same thing has happened to me too. Logged in after typing the confirmation code. Don't think it is something too big to be worried about.

"Sorry , the board attachment quota has been reached."
every user have quota for number of attachments he can make, that means you are done with making it.

why it is good to have such limit, because board hosted on some hosting with limited space, if you do not limit number of attachments per user board will swell up with attachments and soon most of those attachments will be in old threads which rarely visited by any one.

best practice for users do not do any attachments at all. want to host picture go to http://imageshack.us/ upload and use direct link copy/paste, mark and click Img button.
want to host large file go to megaupload.com or rapidshare.com

as long as this hacking concept rose, here is the list I made in case some one interested:

1 you on windows xp, vista, 7 you do not have any chase to secure your system
2 you are using up dated antivirus and you think you safe - you are wrong
3 you just opened PDF file from Internet and file did not open - your windows owned
4 your connection goes via LAN wire, remember !!! absolutely everybody who on same LAN can read everything you do, google for " cain and abel sniffer "
5 you on WIFI: your encryption WPA2, cipher AES, authorization not PSK, password at least 64 characters long, your WIFI almost cannot be cracked. to set up such system you have to be Pro and it is impossible to do on Windows, and by using firmware and software available for public. you should be on linux and update firmware of you r wifi router with something like tomato, better do not use WIFI at all. for example WEP encrypted WIFI can be cracked in 15 minutes. Then all your traffic dumped and decoded and all that HTTPS used by banks stripped too, on one go.
6 next pretty thing - everybody hacked by their ISP, any ISP can give rights to monitor traffic to any company. For example quite few American "private" companies monitoring traffic around the world by having agreements with major ISPs on pretend that they are monitoring Bot Nets activities.
7 if you are visiting leaks kind of sites best way to do it with Liberte linux
dee.su/liberte
, simple to use very secure and all traffic goes from your computer via TOR encrypted. NO way your big brother can learn which web sites you are visiting.

:agree:

If you are on "windoze" you simply cannot ever hope to be secure - ever! If you want to be secure, the very first thing to do is to switch to a "NIX" system (Unix/ Linux/ BSD/ Mac) - everything else comes later...

Cheers!

Subal,

Sometimes you may do well to listen to what others are saying. I was logged out automatically and it said that my allowed number of log in attempts have been exceeded even though I haven't tried to log in at all. How is that? It happened not once but a few times and few others too.
