IFFCO chairman shoots self while cleaning pistol

yeah there are some people the BIG GUNS who buy a gun just to say "mere paas bandook hain pipe gun(shotgun),pistol hain" but forget the basic safety rules and maintenance rules for guns.

why are most deaths passed of as accident while cleaning a weapon whereas it is impossible to shoot
one self in the temple unless you are holding the weapon next to your head.still our condolences to the family for this loss.

Since this is on racial lines.

Then they accuse Punjabi's to be brawlers when a chap like this gets it from solid Punjabi hands.

I do not get what you are saying here?If it is any kind of slur on any group, please do not repeat it again as the board rules do not allow it.

A man died and it is not an occasion to joke or ridicule.

How can the family decide whether it's an accident or not? The death needs to be enquired thoroughly.Gun cleaning and a shot in the temple?

:agree: Must have been holding the pistol next to his ear and shaking it, to hear if there was a cartridge rattling in the chamber. May he rest in peace!
Hemingway managed to do it while cleaning a shotgun! (SxS).

IT seems very clear that this was a suicide and not an accident.hope this incident will not affect the legal gun owners in india.we will be tortured more after sad accident.

RIP. Seemed to be a decent chap. God bless!

Similar case to Rear Admiral Jamwal a few months ago.

Agree that all the similar cases seem to be suicides (or Agatha Christie type murders). Might be shot in the face, if you are cleaning the gun with the muzzle pointed towards you, but temple?? About as likely as Polar Bears in the Sahara. Proper investigations seem unlikely given the political clout of the family (this IS India, after all).

@ Dr. Jayakumar, keepng finger crossed!

EssDee
Cheers!

sorry to hear that. very sad.

misfire of arms, it seems is common, i know and i know few others who have without knowing fired their guns with out knowing if it was loaded. in these cases no harm was done apart from making a hole in the wall.

the best policy is to believe that the arms are fully loaded until and unless one has applied the safety catch, removed the magazine and the ammo from the arms, removed the bolt/slide and have checked the barrel to see if it is clear of any rounds. (check from the back of the gun not the front ie the barrel end) only then one can say that it is totally safe.

most accidental discharge happen when we become to confident and are to tired and our mind is on something else.

if you say it can not be done, then you are right, for you, it can not be done.

Ernst Hemingway shot himself, he was too well versed with firearms to 'clean a loaded shotgun'. Most self inflicted wounds are passed off as cleaning accidents but one doesn't know what may have happened. Condolences for the family, a loss is a loss.
