Please try this number of a Registered Arms Dealer in Mangalore- Mr Prakash Simpson 0-9845406483. My friends have purchased weapons from IOF and there is a 5 year ban on sale of the weapon directly purchased from them. If you purchase from an arms dealer ( although costlier) then u r at liberty to sell it at anytime and go for an upgrade. Plz check on this ban period if still in effect. Goodluck

Edgar

Update :-

Pistol bookings are not being done at Ordnance Cable Factory Chandigarh (OCFC) and Ordnance Factory Muradnagar (OFM) presently. Prospective buyers are being asked to contact Chandigarh in April 2011 and Murad Nagar in June 2011 for further information. This leaves Kolkata as the only place where one can book the Ashani, wait helplessly for approx. 2 years and hope to get a reasonable piece . No wonder the price of the pre-owned Ashani s has sky rocketed .

Can anyone tell me the current price of a used Ashani in U.P. ?

best,
Rp.

Current price of Ashani depends upon the model in UP

as model 2010 is available in 1.7 lac

and the others are just around 1.4 to 1.6 and so on.

Thank you Mr. Sharma , the price in Punjab has sky-rocketed too thanks to the long waiting period . You were lucky to get it from the factory that too sooner than expected .

It is possible to sell a 2010 model Ashni if the license holder is dead or he is surrendering his license.

i just give my example and hope you get the idea.i bought an iof pistol ,2008 make from a guy in jodhpur.the only thing he did is that he put up his application to sell his gun to DM with a request that his daughter is getting married and he is running short of cash and he also attached an invitation card of the marraige along with his application as a proof. and he got the permission to sell.that is how it goes.take care
.
Rp do you really believe this stuff. Even if this thing happened , it is not the right way . And above all the buyer is not at fault it is the seller who is bending the rules for small gains.

Well Prabhdeep, I don't know what exactly might have happened there, but like he says, Saahil did buy a one year old piece from some guy legally .I suppose at the end of the day licensing authority has the right to permit one to sell or buy a firearm in accordance with certain strict criteria . Legal eagles would be the best people to comment on this. :)

At present there is a waiting period for pistol of about 15 to 18 months. To clear the backlog, further booking has been stopped in Muradnagar and a few other outlets till June 2011. If u are in urgent need , then you can go in for IOF Revolver, which can be booked in any outlet at present. You will get the delivery within 90 days. The relatve advantage and disadvantage of a revolver and a pistol has been discussed in detail at verious places in this forum. You may go through them and take a decision on the matter. The other way is to test fire both the weapons yourself and take a decision. I am sure you must be knowing so many persons who have either a revolver or a pistol. Take their assistance. In case, you decide on the revolver go fast, till the stock for Mark III is available. Once the production of Mark IV starts, it may take several months before the likely teething problems are ractified.Wish you best of luck.

I have booked a IOF .32 pistol at cossipore 2 months back. Last week I recieved a reply from them that the waiting period for the weapon is 10 months and I shall send them the balance amount immediately and wait for the call letter to collect the weapon. They also quoted that the waiting time may increase or decrease without any prior notice. :)
