Artificial Inflation of Guns and Ammo in India.

Artificial Inflation of Guns and Ammo in India.

Post by gajamacho » Fri Dec 24, 2010 11:16 am

This is a serious concern i am having, members please share your views.

Lately i have noticed that anything from Air guns to firearms to cartridges/pellets and accesories are being sold at Exhorbitant prices and some unscrupulous elements ( dealers) are taking advantage of this forum.

I think we guys should teach these Edited dealears a lesson and boycott all their products and inflated prices.

1/ Lets help make this sport affordable to all Indians..

2/ Please order your stuff after making enquiries Online ( internet) and learn the Import procedures and cost.

There has to be a solution to this Madness .

Guys, remember that if we inflate the market, its going to be bad for all of us.

let us support Genuine dealers and suppliers also by giving them our business.

regards.

Gaja

Again NAGRI should step in , so that all IOF and imported ammo should have MRP and EXPIRY DATE on each box .This will make shooting sports affordable to all INDIANS. How do you find and support GENUINE dealers? Only when a forum like NAGRI asks IOF to advertise their prices in all national newspapers or on line , periodically or on every price rise.If NRAI is selling arms and ammo, it should have an outlet in every state so that all licencees can avail arms and ammo at reasonable prices without hassles.

First I thought buying air rife here but found prices quoted here are 4 -5 times higher than original price of the gun. I am waiting for NAGRI membership card then I will import it. I am fine going through all pains with Men in white rather than paying money to these dealers.

right about the inflated prices, but there is some misconception here about NAGRI membership. It is not a club/ Rifle association membersip or an equivalent. have the right plans in place..:)

a noble thought. here are few thoughts worth pondering.

1/ NAGRI has no say in the matter. NOR can it do anything about the dealers.
2/ since there is no Max MRP, dealers etc can charge anything they want and no one can do anything except to take it or leave it.
3/ its the sellers market.
4/ every dealer is a Genuine dealer.

so what can be done?

ask the Finance's ministry to remove import ban. that will solve the problem to vast extend.

anything less then that favours the dealers.

BTW the new batch of IOF ammo (I have seen this on their .22 LR & 12 gauge ammo) have the MRP (including all taxes) clearly printed on the box itself.

Hi gajamacho,i didnt get your writeup on Nag,by one of them you mean--------------------------,boss its a simple principle of economics, anything whose's production in the home country is of doubtful integrity and the import of the same is banned, due to reasons of demand, the price will soar. The 2 % population of India, which has money to burn ,dont give a damm about pricing of Arms/Ammo,they will easily pay whatever the Dealer demands provided, the product matches up to the standard they require ,Nag has said the right thing, wishful thinking cannot remove the ban on import of Firearms/Ammo.
PS;COULD YOU PLEASE PUBLISH A LIST OF GENUINE DEALER/SUPPLIERS ON YOUR NEXT WRITEUP ENABLING US TO GIVE THEM OUR BUSINESS

Genuine dealers, Amit? Sorry but they are an extinct species, don't get to see them. Maybe our fathers dealt with them at one time. ROTFL

Hi Katana,i have been dealing with them since 1974,on my father's behalf, believe me they were crooks then,in 2002 i also became one :D ,not a crook but an A/A dealer, left it in 05,they are bigger crooks now, sorry wont use the word crooks, businessmen. The only thing that has changed is the level of crookedness sorry business ethics  .
PS I was wondering maybe gaja has revived the extinct breed ROTFL

That is an utterly needless and ill thought out sentence.Have you thought about what Naga tried to convey?

My apologies if anyone got rubbed the wrong way. But things being as they are, even dealers have to keep improvising to stay in business. It is only an informed person who can sift through the chaff.

Gaja
gajamacho,
The root cause for the inflated Price for Guns & its sport is because of india's pre historic arms policy ,bad /idiotic policy of DGFT regarding arms and not the peoples or dealers .If Ban on Arms import is opened the inflated price will be in dust for sure.

1-The ban on Arms import should me made free to make it affordable to normal person .
2)possible but if import is done without full knowledge then the importer will be in trouble .

The madness is created by our government system and not by dealers

Regarding Genuine dealers if you have anyone in mind update them in dealers sections for the welfare of all IFGians
