Re: Reloaded 30-06 ammo for sale
i think people buy them not knowing what they are buying. As its human nature to trust people, until that trust is misused. as all indications lead to reloads.
so the question arises where do they get the cap and powder?
some of the cases were part blue-es.
guess only good for shooting pigs in the back yard.

Naga are the cases "brassod"?

Re: Reloaded 30-06 ammo for sale
Remington ammo is not the best available, and variances in a single box are legend. When I do get home will post pics, they can make IOF look good. Dented cases, improperly seated bullets, inconsisten OAL et al.
The second box is clearly ammo from multiple vendors stored in a Remington box. Doesnt mean anything either.
If these are indeed re-loaded I would worry.
From looking at pictures I have no idea what wieght bullets are being used, what powder, how much powder.
I would be very wary of using it.

In case of the Winchester Silvertips, you simply have original Winchester cartridges with both 180 grain and 150 grain (with the double cannelure) put into the same 180 gr. box.
The well worn Remington box, assorted Remington cartridges, different vintage and bullet weights, put into the same box; though that box may include reloads. Pictures are not clear enough to tell for sure.
Sellier&Bellot. The joke in Germany is that S&B stands for "Schlecht & Billig", Bad & Cheap. They have had quality issues in the past; though their recent stuff seems good enough, while not giving many reloads. But my experience with S&B is limited.
The worst looking ammo I have ever encountered was post-WW2 E-K. Full jacket 150 gr. .30-06. Overall length of rounds, i.e. seating depth, from the same box of ten varied by easily 1/8 inch. Bullet cannelures where anywhere, from not visible to 1/8 above the case mouth, with no relation to seating depth. Looked as if they had loaded the bullets and packaged the cartridges used in initially adjusting the dies.
While all the companies claim strict quality control, nothing is perfect. I have seen green box ammo with a primer seated up-side down, and a .45 Auto Rim case loaded and boxed as a .44-40 in a yellow & red box.

Re: Reloaded 30-06 ammo for sale
with factory loaded ammo, one can expect one out of twenty to be a little off. but 10 + in a box of 20?
since reloading ammo parts/related stuff are not to be had in India. this leads to the question how can reloads be done?

Naga it is not reloaded....you have picked up a lot of old ammo perhaps from different lots....Two Rivers & MOA are spot on....they usually are....
Fresh imports of 06 Federal,Winchester,S&B are available with most dealers in Del...besides if you are using a Mil Surp 06 then you wanna restrict yourself to the 150 grain ammo....chk with Two Rivers/MOA about this

am aware about 150g. for m1917
old ammo or no old ammo.

tells me MoA is running a mile with this old ammo in the opposite direction.
i have not picked up from different lots, they come from all the same boxes. someone else may have picked it up.
any pointers, to say that they are not reloaded?
every evidence suggest something is not right. even with Remis shoots are coming up different. case trimming marks are there. a factory trimming would be very smooth and not jagged.
let me put it this way, what if a pop is jammed in the chamber without firing? what would the reason for that be.
two reason i can think that will happen either the chamber has gotten smaller or the case is over expended. but before firing?
either way we seem to be missing a vital point that is the suppler is selling some dodgy ammo.
either way MoA nor Two Rivers have said that they are not reloads.

Re: Reloaded 30-06 ammo for sale
Naga: If an unfired cartridge sticks in the chamber, it is most likely an inadequately resized reload. Every stuck cartridge I have ever been called on to remove has been a reload. If the bolt is difficult to close on the cartridge, it may well be a factory cartridge that's a bit long in headspace, combined with a minimum chamber. I will still go with the Silvertips as being factory loads, but a mix of 150 and 180 grainers. The faded green box is highly suspect. As to trim marks on the case necks, can't tell from the picture, so I'll pass.
With the M1 Garand only, stick to military ammo, whether 150 grain ball, or the heavier armor piercing round. Sporting ammo is likely to have muzzle pressure too high, which can result in a bent operating rod. But since you fellows are not likely to have a functioning semi-auto M1, the point is really moot. If it has been converted to manual operation, any .30-06 cartridge will be fine, regardless of bullet weight.
