Re: IOF 30-06 Rifle
The Gungeek thread makes an intersting read. Mr. Roy has said everything and yet nothing! This is as intersting as a Hercule Poirot mystery! However, the .223 Rem should be interesting, should this weapon come to the civilian market. Maybe the next generation will enjoy it

Re: IOF 30-06 Rifle
whats the veracity of the post about this Roy? before we start an arti and deify it?
he actually has the b@lls to come out and say he DESIGNED (pirated) it... next he'll be claiming he invented the light bulb.
Oh, all the downgrading and loss of quality IS ORIGINAL, so I stand corrected. The bedpan mechanic must have designed it
Mikhail Kalshnikov went blue in an apoplectic rage, on being showed the non licenced, copied version of the Indian AK, a few years ago.Threatened to sue the Govt of India and all that jazz.

Re: IOF 30-06 Rifle
...off topic but with the patent for the H&K MP5 expiring recently, I can wonder when our bogus boffins will 'design' the all new state of art "IOF 9mm SMG".... China hasn't wasted time. Norinco MP5s are the rage now... remember, with the MP5, we're talking about mid-1960's technology.eljefe wrote:whats the veracity of the post about this Roy? before we start an arti and deify it?

Slightly out of text. Just learnt how to post snaps on IFG. So, I could not resist putting up a snap of my friend's Winchester "thirty-oh-six".

Re: IOF 30-06 Rifle
Prashant,
Almost bought a Win 70 post '64 when I was looking for a .30-06. An uncle of mine had one which was gifted to him as a wedding present by Chandrabhanusinhji of Wankaner. He was considered a gun guru, was a founding member of the NRAI and used to design rifles for Remington and Winchester and pistols for Colt(Yes, he was truly an Indian designer!) and had sorted out quite a few gunsmithy glicthes for them. That paritcular piece was glass bedded and had a free floating barrel with a Weaver scope, although it was a bit fogged out. Anyway, this uncle of mine asked for 3.5L and I felt it would not be prudent to buy at that price so I settled for an IOF. This one was manufactured around 1968-70, was extremely sweet handling and well balanced. Sad I had to let it go.
Ultimately, it was sold to dealer from Jaipur at roughly the same price.

Katana, your uncles have very discerning tastes in firearms, going by one example I know of.
Pity, the Indian Govt does not let law abiding citizens maintain pieces of history.US$ 3.5 billion Telecom scandal is all right ,though.

That's exactly the same amount (Rs 3.5 L) my friend was offered for this weapon recently. He has no intention of selling it. Rightly so. It's a beauty.Katana wrote:Prashant,

Re: IOF 30-06 Rifle
I have pics of this weapon but its downright frustrating not to be able to upload pics here! I'm still in the computer stone age, guys! There is a Win.70 in .375 H&H in the family too. Are you talking about that example, el jefe?

Why put a $80 scope and a $40 bipod on a $2400 rifle
