Here is a clip of my son shooting the 404. Old high velocity Kynoch ammo 400 grains at about 2225 fps. A hint of hang fire there. His first experience with a big bore !! Here is the link

Some recoil. but your son seems to have handled it quite well. How old is he? . Would be fun to shoot this old beauty

Shooter 50, He did very well for his first time shooting a big bore.

Good show,Shooter 50.
Give it to the young fella, he's going to be fine with it...at 4398 fpe, a very elegant solution. Do post pics, details.
Mohan Singh- OLD ? beauty-I beg to differ, the 404J has been, and will be one 'complete' rifle and a perfect taker of game.IMO.

Dear Sir,
If talk of big bore rifles and and your son is handling it for the first time I will say that he did very well as far as my knowledge is concern about 404 the recoil what he received might seems to be a big one as he is firing for the fist time, But as the practice goes on and on he will be fine with the gun.

WISH YOU ALL THE BEST AND YOUR SON ALSO FOR THE REST OF THE LIFE
AND GO SHOOTING AND HAVING EVERLASTING FUN !!!!!!!!

Asif: Before you start looking for an FN Colombian 98, it's a standard length FN 98 action with a slightly longer magazine for the .30-06, and a bullet clearance cut in the top back of the receiver ring.

WOW! :cpix:

What a beautiful, well preserved weapon - congratulations to you and your son shooter50! Drool!

Nice video clip! BTW - what is the voice saying at the very end of the clip - just after the shot? Could not understand... it was too quick!
