Graduating to better guns....

Post by bhawaniprasaddwivedy » Mon Nov 08, 2010 9:19 pm

Hii Guys

after practicing with an IHP .177 cal air gun, I think my shooting skills have improved a bit. Thats why I m thinking of investing in a better gun. So people help me out once again... As I have got a job now, I can invest a bit more... Suggest me a decent air rifle or pistol within 50-60k. And Do tell me where to buy them from... :stupid: Cheers and thanks in advance...

Why don't you think of upgrading from Springers to PCP. I am sure PCP's will give you a better control and help you learn the right techniques.

You would get a Benjamin around your price tag. Keep a watch on the sale section.

At 50-60k, if you are interested in competing, you can land up a decent match grade air-pistol(pre-owned). If competition is not your goal, at 50-60k you can import an adult airgun (Springer or PCP). You have a wide variety to choose from: Starting from Gamo right up to Air Arms (look up Pyramidair.com to view all options under one roof..err website :D ).

But the most important prerequisite for importing is a rifle club/association membership (Membership Card) among other things. Theres a complete thread devoted to importing an airgun. Please take the time to go through it.

From your post I understand that you want both an air rifle and an air pistol(match grade), do correct me if I am wrong in my presumption.

If you want a second hand(lets just say pre-owned, sounds a lot better  )rifle/pistol, your best bet is shooting athletes who are selling off surplus or older equipment. You can post a wanted ad in the wanted section to begin with. There may be athletes on this forum who are selling.

The membership card comes into play when you import from abroad. However, if you are able to source your equipment locally via networking, that may not be required at all. Please ensure that you actually look up and test the pre-owned rifle/pistol you are intending to purchase. Namely check for any visible defects, shoot a few groups from a rest to see if the groups are consistent; etc.

Not sure of the current pricing. You can have a look around on the internet to get a fair idea.

Hi
for the price range you want here are your options

1. you can buy a Walther LP 400 / Feimwekbau Pistol - New These are the best guns you can buy. But you will need to buy a pump or be near a range which will fill your cylender
2. you can buy a 2nd hand Walther Rifle / Feimwekbau Rifle - Again the condition could vary.

I will suggest choose a decipline pistol or rifle and stick to it.

If you do choose rifle you will also need to buy so that you dont break your back
1. Jacket and trousers - Which can range from Rs 15000/- Rs 1,00,000/- depending upon quality
2. Stand
3. Shade caps
4. Shoes
5. Blinders
6. Kneeling roll and mat of you are doing positions other than 3 position

If you choose pistol you will need blinders (these are different from rifle blinders in size)

FInally to import easily you need atleast a state rifle club membership.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
Regards
Gaurav
