Hi all,

I had ordered a Alfa Competition PCP Pistol , Caliber - 0.177" from Pyramyd Air on 26 oct and it reached india via Fedex on 28th it went for customs clearance on 29th and I e-mailed them a secured PDF copy of my membership card and IT ID card both side and auth letter(could not send the letter from the secretary as he was not in town ) and the Fedex chaps got it cleared on these documents and they informed me that my package has left for cochin and will reach in 2 to 3 days.
Hopefully will get it soon with all the items intact, as I had purchased pellets along with the gun! :)

Will update when and if I get the gun!

This is what the Fedex guys had asked me to send them for clearing my gun!
Dear Sir,
Further to our telecom, we request you to please provide the below given documents to proceed further:
1) Letter authorizing FedEx to clear the shipment (format attached)
2) Copy of Membership card from both sides
3) Letter issued by the secretary of club stating that you are an existing member of club in air shooting range.

Shiv - Good show on getting the Alfa Pistol with Pellets. I guess no one in the recent days have imported pellets along with their order. To my knowledge Pyramyd Air stopped shipping pellets to India along with Rifle or Pistol.

Andy - Make sure you got the below 7 docs ready. Try send these documents to [email protected] once your FedEx shipment reaches Paris.

1. Authorization letter for Fedex to clear the shipment.
2. Brief synopsis letter of the contents with reason of import
3. Bonafide letter from the Rifle club.
4. Copy of Rifle Association Membership ID card.
5. DGFT Notification No.12/2005 dated 04-07-2005, through which Government of India has permitted free import of .177 Air Rifles / Air Pistols by the members of Rifle Association.
6. Notification No.21/2008- CUSTOMS dated 01-03-2008, (Serial No.582), for claiming duty exemption.
7. Internet pricelist

Through my past experience FedEx does a brilliant and effective service. They clear their shipments in less than hour.

Will post some pics of my latest import that I collected from FedEx last night 8)

vmanicks,
Great stuff man!
Pyramyd Air did mail me regarding the pellets, said they were recalling my package cos pellets not allowed into India and would give me a full refund if I wanted to cancel my order, but the package reached India before the recall i guess. They were offering 4th tin totally free if we order 3 tins and being a Indian could not pass the offer, also got a discount of 6 dollors + the free tin.

@ankitdashora (instead of PM you can post here as you will get more advice from all!)
dear ankit you have to be a Shooting club member to import Air Guns. it can be District Rifle clubs or Air Shooting clubs.
Lot of posts in IFG which will guide you. :D

If you are in town can go speak to our club sectary about membership, both Rifle club and Air shooting academy at RSC.

Hi!

I tried the import route through natchez shooters for a diana .177, model 48, it was shipped via UPS, very poor service of UPS india and also the same got stuck at Singapore, never got the delivery, how ever Natchez were very helpful and also refunded the full amt.

Recently got a Sumatra 2500 from US with me in my checked baggage through continental in a TSA approved case. No hassles there, but India despite showing my NRAI card it got confiscated, how ever got it released the very next day.
Best Regards
