This is a typical example of the interpretations of rules / language by the customs or for that matter any other govt. dept.t20 wrote: A 14 year girl from Madurai Rifle club is fighting with the custom to get her air rifle cleared. The case is pending for last 6 months. Customs confirmed that they are ready to clear an Air gun but not an Air Rifle As per notification of DGFT no where we can see Air rilfe mentioned and customs are not ready to do meaningful meanings.
So I would remind all of the above that their interpretations of whether or not .22 Air rifles / pistols can be imported with or without duty may not withstand the test.
Bug them until you have something on paper in hand and even then you may have to fight while importing.
Trust me on this as I have plenty of experience with the customs.

This is not to contradict anyone but have you seen the amendments to the RTI act ?
If the information lies with another department now the PIO will not forward the information to that department but will inform you and you will have to do it yourself.
You cannot ask questions, ask the PIO to create information or draw conclusions as per the current guidelines. The PIO will only give you the information in the form it exists with him and you will have to interpret and draw all conclusions.
First they arm you with a sword and then they make it blunt.
