You have got it right Bruno. I agree with you, it makes sense specially when you are travelling far from home and are not very familiar with the area.
Add an expandable baton (for example check ASP batons) to your gear. Expandable baton because of ease of carrying on person but otherwise the good old baseball bat will work very well to face and drive off any aggressor armed (except with a firearm) or unarmed. It works well in almost all situations and give you that extra reach and the desired clout.

Thanks Subal & Rajat. I have the cold steel 'Sambok' and also a few old golf clubs. The batons I came across we not very nice.
Will try and call for that book. I have one on basic survival and it does cover urban survival too but not in great detail.

Re: Child protection options
ASP making great batons, another one called Camlock is perhaps best one, there is everything with it training video, tactical mirror, holster, holder etc
http://deenside.co.uk/deenside_catalogu ... &s=Camlock
in general it is fantastic non lethal weapon, only one thing they did not teach, that you should always be ready to lose it in fight. baton advantage is reach, it is also a weak point, baton always can be striped and snatched from you, keep your knife ready for such situation, your opponent maybe celebrating easy win and did no see what is coming. that concept was explained by Silat guru Paul de Thouars

I believe that the expandable batons are used as a self defence tools for everyday carry.Subal das wrote:thanks Bruno, try to watch some Midway USA Best defense series, they have few videos dedicated to cars. Also Gabriel Suarez book Tactical Advantage is my favorite.
Keep knives in your pocket and pray that you will never need it
