Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Lesson No.13 'Calling'
'Calling your shot' is defined as predicting the placement of your shot on the target, purely based on the movement of the sights. This is how its done;
1. Take a normal 10 m target, keep it face up,on the shooting table, within easy reach.
2. For beginners, cut out the 10th ring, keep it on the 10th ring of the target.
3. Load and shoot, then you must predict, where your shot has landed on the target, (obviously not looking at the target) by the movement of your sights alone. You then place the cut out 10th ring on the target on the table besides you.
4. Pull back your target and compare.
5. if the shot hole matches your 10th ring placement, (even if the shot hole cuts the cut out 10th ring), then you have got it correct. Place a tick mark in your box drill diary.
6.There is absolutely no need to REMOVE the shot target and place it over the 'calling' target. Your judgement should do.
7. Do not try to GUESS, nor FEEL, where the shot has landed. You must KNOW where your shot has gone.
8. Obviously you will be able to place the 10th ring cut out correctly, ONLY if you have been watching your sights or rather focussing on your sights throughout.
9. This lesson will help you TREMENDOUSLY to improve your focus and shooting performance improves quite dramatically.
10. Always keep track of your percentage (box drills)
11. Eventually, over a period of time, you will achieve 100%, at that point of time, you must discard the 10th ring cut out and switch to the pellet itself.
12. While using the pellet, the skirt should be resting on the face of the target.
13. If your shot placement even touches the skirt of the calling target, you give yourself a tick.
Calling is used by the best shooters. Hapy SHooting.

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Hi,
Was going to say that I didn't understand till I read it again. Seems pretty nice, thank you for taking the trouble even after being under the weather.
Still haven't got the technique of squeezing the trigger as you lower the sights on to the aiming mark.
It's quite a hoot when you stare at the ideal sight picture and realise heck my finger hasn't even started moving. Then you lower and begin all over again.

Hello Pintuk
1. Please read post by Tenx, on the pros and cons of picking up shooting as a career.
2. To be a professional shooter, you need to devote a lot of time as well, effort and money.
3. You need to spend at least half a day or two sessions of minimum 2 hours each day.
4. Your initial investment in air pistol will be to the tune of Rs 80,000/- +- Rs 5000/-
5. Each month you should be prepared to spend at least Rs 5000/- towards pellets and targets.
6. You will have to find a club in Bangalore and enroll as a beginner with a good coach.
7. The coach has to be very good or its kaput to your future dreams.
Regards

No it shouldn't be back breaking. Don't know about you but I only do it for as long as I enjoy it. The moment it becomes like work...I go to office.

Hi Jitu,
PLEASE do pay attention to your warm up exercises. Do not start unless you have warmed up and also commence your physical fitness regime.
