Query about bringing CO2 pistol

Post by srinidhilv » Thu Sep 30, 2010 4:24 am

Hi,

I am planning to bring a CO2 pistol when I come down to Bangalore.
What are the import restrictions, do I need to produce some sporting certificates or anything like that. What are the documents I would be needing to get it past the customs.

This is one of the guns I have liked.

Any advise would be appreciated.

A Search on the topic i.e "Importing Airgun" and an intro about yourself will be highly appreciated .
Thanks and Regards,

I went through various threads on the subject but was not clear. Most people here seem to be importing/ bringing over rifles and not CO2 powered pistols.
About myself I just love guns, I had been an NCC cadet in college and shot fire arms. It has been long time since I fired any type of gun, since I am in the US I thought I'd get one of these nice toys and use it to target practice when I come back to India. I am currently studying in the US.

In a nutshell, as long as it is 177 caliber, it is ok if it is powered by CO2 or spring or compressed air. Be it rifle or pistol, single or multishot.
You need to be a member of a rifle club in India to carry it with you. Let me know if you need more help.

per my understanding NO, this is NOT a mandatory criteria , if you are bringing it as a personal baggage with you , which is probably going to happen in your case i believe. Just stick to .177Cal to avoid any hassale.

Others, Please correct me from wrong if whatever I said above, is NOT correct nowadays.
Thanks and Regards,

Yes there is no rule as such, but the men in white can get funny and having a membership will help.

Thanks miss_3006, Yes , your point is valid and justified. Now I have a stupid question..

is it possible to become a member of a rifle club while being outside of the country. I know there is a police verification involved , so your physical presence is required , but just thinking if the police verification part can be waived temporarily in first case and issued a membership card to the member till he returned in the country. There are lot of people who came abroad and wish to carry an airgun with them while returning back, but afraid to do so since most of them dont have a ready membership , but may be they are keen to join a club on their return. having a membership on the first case will make their life simple and easier. If passport can be issued in tatkaal scheme waiving the police verification temporarily why not a rifle club membership ? Its just a ID card isnt it ?
Any thoughts ????
Thanks and Regards,
Saptarshi

It is very much possible. Not all clubs require a police verification actually. What is your home state and city, based on that I might make a few suggestions.
Your questions is valid and justified.
