BIIG bore!

Post by eljefe » Sat Jan 13, 2007 2:11 pm

For all you big bore double fans:

I wont comment on the need for the particular caliber, but check out the wood and metal and other niceties...

Asif,

.730 calibre equates to 12 bore. There are considerably bigger rifles being built these days. 10 bore would be .775 and so on. And there is also the 12 Gauge From Hell designed by RObert Garnick which was featured on Accurate Reloading and which has been posted about here, most probably vastly more powerful than this double rifle.

I also know that some years ago Mr Rusi Jijina had a beautiful Explora 12 bore gun on sale though I don't know whether he sold it since or he still has it.

Asif, if you mean the so-called `Einhorn 20mm` in Jurassic Park III it was actually a Barratt M95 .50 Cal.

`African Hunter` is a good website as there are some really informative articles there.
penpusher, the link you provided won`t open for me but I presume it concerns the American guy who built his own 4-Bore rfle ?

penpusher's link was not opening as he seems to have ended the link with a "full stop"... :) one more example of how good grammar and the Internet don't gel very well ;)

Fixed it - the link is now working...

Cheers!

Thanks Abhijeet - that`s something that I`ve done myself......more than once !
It is the article that I thought it was.........and, thinking about it, I provided the same link once before to illustrate the sheer size of a 4-Bore action.
