Moreover the 4-5 gun shops that i visited had only BBB,BB & #1 and ball. Disappointing as i did not find the #4 or 6 that i was looking for

Anyway, no sign of the #4,6 or 7 yet??

Re: latest price of 12 bore ammo
Given the current state of affairs about arms i guess price will not matter soon because you will have only a peanut quantity at hand.
BTW - Ammo rate at kovi shop is 46/- for A 12G cartridge. Ball is higher i guess.

A pack of 25 RC Italy costs RS 1875/- i.e. Rs.75/- a pop. Not bad for a imported 12 bore cartridge

RC is used for trap and skeet (if im not mistaken) they are any day better than KF ammo. if possible pick up as many as you can. the only thing is the load is less in them but that does not mean they lack punch.

Re: latest price of 12 bore ammo
RC4 is competition ammo, and therefore loaded with ONLY 24 gram of shot, as the lowered shot weight is mandated by ISSF rules. Till the early 90's this was 28 grams of shot max, but then the rules were changed to further lower the shot weight - to make the sport more challenging.
I am not sure what snIPer means by saying that they "pack a punch", because less shot weight means fewer projectiles which in turn means that you will have a less dense pattern i.e. fewer projectiles hitting your designated target. Maybe he is talking about the muzzle velocity of the shot?
Standard KF Special ammo is loaded with 30 gram of shot and Astram is loaded with 32 gram of shot. I hear they also have a product called KF Magna which is supposedly loaded with 34 grams of shot - but I've never come across/ used this myself so cannot comment.
For the same price I'd prefer heavier ammo (for general use), I'd only bother with the 24 gram ammo if I were to get it at a much lower price. I've used KF for decades and so long as the ammo is stored properly and used within (say) 5 years (though I've seen 30+ year old KF ammo fire just fine) - there are few misfires. The only downside is that the KF Special shotshells use paper/ cardboard wadding which leaves lots of carbon residue in the barrel but nothing a good cleaning session (post-shooting) wouldn't take care of.
From what I've heard from guys who've been using it - 24 gram imported shotgun ammo (No's 7 & 9 for trap & skeet respectively) usually sells for between 30-40 bucks a pop. Keeping the above in mind, 75 rupees seems like highway robbery!

Re: latest price of 12 bore ammo
I presume that the RC has a faster burning powder (superior) compared to the KF and so has higher velocities - around 1450 fps.
75 is cheap compared to what rates ive heard for imported stuff here.
Try Shaktiman its pretty good, yes, the barrel does get fouled up but immediate cleaning will take care of that issue.
