Did you declare the airgun yourself or they scanned it? Get a club membership in Hyderabad.

Amreeth... Please contact or PM any of the Hyderabad members. IIRC a membership in one of the ranges in Hyd is the easiest to get - and the cheapest as well (IIRC its some 500/-pm)!

that will not work for custom, dont waste your time ... range in Hyderabad Uni do not issuing any membership card, it is written "shooting camp". So you are actually not a member just person attending shooting camp.

ven99, You havent specified caliber here though .22 caliber is allowed in personal baggage but some peoples faced trouble for .22 Caliber so better to stick on .177 for safest bet. So far I heard that mumbai airport is one of the coolest among india when bringing airgun is concerned in personal baggage. NO need to have a Rifle Club membership and that is not mandatory. If you have one that is good but that is not a mandatory requirement. Make sure you have all the papers and invoice where it clearly marked as .177 caliber. Carry the govt notifications and factory manual to show it is an air rifle and NOT an actual firearms. Just go through the previous post here and will find lot of other information which I may have missed. All the best for you and do post your experience after reaching India with your air rifle. Thanks and Regards,

Where is the SUICIDE smiley when you need one! :?

cybershot.. you are in that section of the forum which tells you how you can successfully import an airgun for yourself.... and many people have too. This very thread you have posted in was started by (and captures the story of) someone who successfully got his gun down to India. This forum is full of stories of such imports. The sale section is full of such imported weapons being resold. you could read-up up and do the needful for yourself!

importing .22cal air rifle as accompanied baggage

Post by hormese » Sat Oct 09, 2010 11:35 am

Dear All,
Is it legally possible to bring one .22cal air rifle into our country while returning (that too with a telescopic sight) . Is it necessary that one has to be member of a shooting association. Please advise.

Try your luck.

But chances of getting on the hands of WHITE MEN are quite easier. Also depends on which airport and the time you arrive.
