Hi davidj,

Try ebay, India and search for 'rifle scope' under all catagories. Restrictions or not, they seem to be selling these in bulks..and a good range too. :)

Can someone please throw some light on whether the restrictions on scopes have been withdrawn subsequently.

If you are really lucky they might sail through customs with 15% duty (pre 1996 structure)

Do only FedEx. The documents you've mentioned are sufficient.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Quite a few of these scopes r cheap knockoffs from China. I have had a bad experience with a Bushnell with would change POI everytime. Buy at ur own risk.....

pump & gun/rifle is not a problem, do not include pallets.......My personal experience is, if u include pallets ur whole consigment will get stuck with customs....

Now as per rule to import pallets u, being a renowned shot, u have to get import permit, from ministry of home affairs, which u will not get for more than 15,000 pallets = 30 tins of 500 pellets each....

)))cheers!!!

As per baggage rule, only 50 pellets/bullets (for them all same) are allowed  under TR

Pellets and bullets are not the same by any stretch of imagination. Please don't confuse members and don't propagate false information on the web to give people ideas.

fellow, no connection between catridges & Pellets.......

In baggage, 4 tins per person is the rule, via import permit 15,000 pellets = 30 tins of 500 pellets each...

In regards to catridges only 50....So, no confusion, ok

Amit, can you point us to where you read this RULE? I don't think there is any rule which dictates 4 tins per person.

I have written an RTI to customs & DGFT, for air pallets....
till date only customs has replied, where they say nothing for the cabin baggage, more over, answer to all the questions they have put is as per DGFT rules...

Now i am waiting for DGFT to reply, there reply time has also lapsed....so i am going for the appeal....

U will get answer to many unanswered questions....pls fallow the topic @ ... http://www.indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10636

Last but not the least....4-5 tins in ur baggage, will not be stopped....this is my belief....for which and for more like questions i have written RTI....pls be patient, i will get u +ve reply...

)))cheers!!!

dev wrote:Okay my experience is if its a .177 air pistol that walks, talks and sqauks like a target pistol you are in no trouble. Customs will inspect it and politely send it to your house. Mine was for about $345, so I think they didn't even charge duty.
From which I infer that it is the same rule as when you travel overseas, your duty free limit on goodies is Rs.20,000.
I hope that clears the air for you. It is safe to import a.177 by post from what I know. If anyone has imported a.22 please report.

Regards,

Dev
Hi Dev,

I am not sure whether you are still here , but would you mind to share the link of the webstore from where you bought the air rifle. Really looking for one. Also do you have any idea whether Diana can send directly to India?

3. received tracking number via email(next morning)
4. on 30th got a call from fedex, guy on the phone asked for soft copies of my membership card, letter from shooting club, invoice of rifle, authorization letter(that said "i authorize FEDEX to act as my clearing agent...blah blah blah")
5. and finally got it today evening :D

Hi singhkuld,

Thats good news, can you please show me the gun on pyramydair.com, cant find it actually. Also did you had rifle club membership prior to buying this gun? Please let me know how to get that.

Arpan

@arun
i think spending another few thousand bucks on club membership will be a good option. and yes do get good info on from where you can get those CO2 powerlets in india.
