The first pic posted looks like the working version of the "Odi katti" (Ayda katti as the westerners call it)carried by the Coorgis.
The pichangetti is a smaller ceremonial dagger which is tucked into a "cummerbund" like belt on weddings and formal occasions.The pichangettis can be really expensive ,I've heard they start at 15-20 ks.

the geneology is typical kodagu.
have been paricipant at many 'pichakatti' ocasions and the joie de vivre at a wedding is amazing...cant get enough!
