how to care for the 54 airking

Post by drifter » Sat Jul 24, 2010 4:41 pm

guys I would appreciate if someone could explain the best maintenance methods for maintaining the 54 airking. The guy at the armoury said nothing needs to be done for regular maintenance.

1-2 drops of chamber oil every 1000 shots,( Dont over do it )

Moly based lub on sliding cylinder outer surface,

most Imp, pivot pins of cocking handle ( one which attaches round rod, and other one is at the end of action needs very good lub like moly pase else you will be looking either for rod or the complete handle.
also lube pins of square parts at the both end of round rod,

finally good wipe of silicone oil lint free patch all over shiny surface.

One more advise dont try to fiddle with sliding mechanism of recoil absorber, they are permanently lubed at factory.
use good quality pallets, and pull-threw silicone oiled patch through barrel every 500-1000 shots till it comes out smug free.

I think this will keep your gun in shape for 20,000 shots before you need to replace piston seal.

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

Hi,

Sounds good - actually the Air King needs very little looking after, except for the basics of keeping away rust and moisture from physical handling and some selected oiling of visible joints. Fantumfan and Pritam have covered it admirably.

wipe all moisture off, oil all surfaces that were wet.
