Why this restlessness ?

Posts that don't fit into any other category. If it's anything to do with guns, it probably doesn't belong here!

Why this restlessness ?

Post by grewal » Wed Jul 21, 2010 12:48 pm

These days so many new members are joining this forum ,which is a very good sign. But every-time these young guns ask so many questions which are most of the time irrelevant in nature or which have been extensively discussed earlier . They never take pain to post an introduction and bang comes a question "How can I buy a 10mm or a Glock 19 or How can I import a Desert Eagle ?" Why are they so restless. And most of them don't even possess a valid Arms License. A day before yesterday there was one 19 year old member asking for Brno .22 in sales section. I was 23 when I made my Arms licence, my parents were opposed to this whole idea of possessing a weapon , but I convinced them and went from every pillar to post and got my arms license with my own efforts. Bought a 12 bore sxs and after 8 years got a revolver FGK .32. This upcoming new generation are so obsessed and influenced by media that they want everything big and fast . My 4 year old son wants a cell phone , every other day he says papa bye me a phone or he keeps her mother's phone in his pocket all the time he is at home. I still remember that I must have been almost 10 years old when I got my first cycle and my 4 year old is already on his second cycle and wants to upgrade to an ATB. Well these are my views , I would like to hear from all the members how do they feel about it .

You want more gun control? Use both hands!

Agreed Grewal ji. Its a materialistic World afterall!

Children nowdays have far more exposure than what our generations had. I remember, my parents got a Cable connection after I'd cleared my entrance exams(post +2) & this was in 97. Also the world around has become a faster place, everybody seems to be in a hurry of sorts. Gone are the days when people would mingle just for the heck, no one meets anybody without work or an agenda now.

Me getting an Arms license wasn't easy too, family was very adamant on not letting me possess one. I too ran around for a while to get it made finally when I was ~ 24.

Im still a chip of the old block & loved earlier times, face difficulty fitting in the modern, un-caring World!

It's like naga said, we're in an instant microwave society. Everything is available in front of them. Be it info, be it money, be it anything else. Parents are busy with their lives, it's the nannies who're bringing up the children. Do you think the old family values would be passed on?? Dream on.

As for their restlessness in asking for things without checking out the whole forum, well, we all're always there to show them the way. Sometimes sweetly, sometimes not so. :)

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

it is up to the fathers to put some reality in to our kids, to show that easy come easy go.
if one wants values installed in our kids then we have to teach them.
