Re: Geco 12 Bore DBBL (Hammer)
Sniper, read the post. It simply states that a Belgian-made SxS with a German retailer's name is nothing unusual. That the majority were plain Jane box locks. A side lock with engraving quite obviously would be in another class; for someone with deeper pockets. My post in no way was meant to denigrate your lovely find. Congratulations! Hope the restoration will do it justice. Cheers.

Re: Geco 12 Bore DBBL (Hammer)
Thanks Mate.
Removed all traces of existing polish with thinner.
Used a toothbrush to remove muck from the chequering.
Filled in all the scars with a mixture of rose wood powder (not color) and Araldite.
Sandpapered for a good finish.
2 coats of French polish
Dried in shade for 3 days.

By looking at the picture of your gun's barrel, thought the some parts had been cold blued.By the way have you used any oil for seasoning the stock?

Yep i think a few spots have been touched up but the rest is as is.
No, no oil used at all, i still have to do up a few more coats on the stock.

I have a hammerless Geco shotgun. It is very strongly built with greener crossbolt. The chokes are very tight....
awesome performance in long range.......better than any English shotgun regarding price.......ideal for long range duck hunting.....your one is also magnificent with classic hammer.

I also used a old miroku, a Jeffry and a parkar hale before. These were all open choked guns. I was not so sucessful with these guns. But the present Geco with full and extra full choke performs tremendously at longer range. I am very much satisfied with this gun.
Thanks
