sitting here far away from homeland, i was dying to find out the results of the national shooting in Patiala.
Well google it you say.
sure but most news papers give you the results the next day; im dying to know how my friends are doing.

well for cricket, you get 1 gazillion sites giving you ball by ball action. let alone the results i want at the end of the day.

Hey you fool, you say; thats cricket, desh ki dhadkan. How can you compare the two. masses, media , ad times, TRP etc etc.

Well im sorry.

SO i figure, ill stick to my nerd/geek world and visit the websites who give two hoots about shooting. I mean they are responsible for organising the games, promoting them, selections etc etc.

Surely they will give adequate coverage and do justice to shooting.

Did they?

Well first indian shooting website.

No results even a few days after the event. in fact they still had the shooting nationals in the 'upcoming events'.

zero.

next stop. NRAI website. man come on these people write the rulebook for the games.

not even a mention of the championships. the only thing they have is a calender of events.

Not being personal, my trusted IFG; at least last year the results of mavlankar were mentiond even though they were a part of a different thread and there was one small tiny mistake in the details. but hey this site has thousands of shooting fans.

The only result i got was wishing one member best of luck for the nationals that too from last yr.

zero.

wont go into the details from the other websites.

Finally get the results as 1 paragraph in the newspaper the next day and they got the name of the prrson in the third position after the third round wrong; not a spelling mistake but the wrong shooter!!
even now i can only find the names of only the top 3 positions for all fields not even the positions of the final rounds.

Now im not being personal or criticising but if shooters do not show an interest in shooting or promote it, who will?
Isnt it the purpose for the above mentioned websites to promote shooting?

There is a post elsewhere about col RVS rathore not being a role model for general shooters but this experience led me to ask myself, are we model 'fans/followers'.
Does it take only an olympic gold to recognise the hard work talent of rathore/bindra.

dont Record holders sondhi and narangs deserve our attention?

do we think that olympic medals are won without winning/competing at the nationals?

There is a book i was reading about how to shoot . it was a book for beginners like me.
This book had an entire chapter about competing and the importance of attending competitions as spectetors and attending the prize giving ceremony.
Not least because u get to observe good technique/form in action but also for the shooters and the round of applause that gives them a boost and makes them feel wanted; that people want to see them that people care!!
this gives them a sense of accomplishment, encougement.

If shooters dont respect fellow shooters or give them attention or credit why will the others bother?

there fore i give you all the list of top 3 shooters in shooting desciplines and offer them my heartiest congratulations on the behalf of IFG.

My wife Aparna Jadhav, won the Team Gold (Maharashtra) in Air Pistol Event. Scoring 379/400. In the individual Category, she was ranked overall second after Ms Shweta Choudhary (385/400). In the finals, she was holding her own, when suddenly her gun malfunctioned , lost 10 pts and slid to 8th Position.
