fuzzy rear sight cure
Even though I wear glasses my rear sight goes outa focus ever so many shots. The problem has been compounded by getting used to scoped rifles. I seem to remember the trick of using a candle to darken the sight any more tricks up yer sleeves?

The soot from a candle or an oily rag will only remove the glare.
Your problem is basically related to bad eyesight. I know because I suffer from it. However, in my case it's the foresight that gets fuzzy after about ten shots. The rear sight is bound to be a bit fuzzy if you focused on the front sight.
I suggest you let the eyes relax between shots by focusing on objects at varying distances and preferably at the colour green.

Happens to me all the time. I am trying out an eye exercize, which is helping me a lot. It takes about a minute every morning.
I close one eye cupping it with one hand, and hold my thumb from the other hand close to the other eye at about a distance of 8 cms. Both eyes are open, while one sees darkness and the other sees your thumb. In 2 second gaps, change the focus from the tip of your thumb to a far away object which is close to the line of your thumb. Effectively, what you do is see a nice green tree which is about 100-200 yards away and bring your thumb inbetween. Change focus from thumb to tree about 10-20 times. Repeat for the other eye.
I started with 1 times per eye per day and no go upto 50 times per eye per day, and have seen wonderful results.

Forgot to mention. I tried this between shots in practice and noticed my eyes tire out. Advise not to do this while at practice...

Dev,
There is something else you have to keep in mind as a speccy. Assuming you are using your right eye to aim, you are not canting the rifle and are not using an adjustable shooting spectacle, then you are effectively looking through the top left corner of your right lens and this will never give you the clarity you are going to get when looking through the centre of the lens.

What also works is take a piece of tape and cut a small hole in it, then stick it to your shooting glasses andsight through the hole.

Thank you Mack The Knife Tenx and Mark you sure have a whole bag of tricks to shoot better. Will strive to go to the range on Sunday and get to know how bad I am with irons. I also have the finger breakin' Marlin trigger to contend with, should be good.
I'll post results.

Dev
