There is no requirement of being a resident of Delhi to be a member of Dr. Karni Singh shooting ranges. They are run by SAI (under Min. of Sports) and anyone can become a member and shoot there. IIRC membership is for approx INR 3,000/- for 3 months, which is the minimum period for which you can take membership there...
Easiest way forward is to simply go there in person and find out for yourself. Being a govt. set up I doubt if they would field enquires on telephone...
Cheers!

BTW - since the Dr. Karni Singh shooting ranges are not a shooting club/ association, I am moving this thread to the ISSF Shooting Sports section...
Cheers!

I tried this and it didn't work. The guard spoke as much English as I speak Hindi (tho-di tho-di) and I ended up with no information about membership. I suspect a Hindi speaker would fair better.

Membership is 500 bucks per month for 3 months atleast + 70 bucks for the ID Card.
They aren't giving / renewing membership now-a-days as they have to hand over the range to the CPWD for renovation in preparation for the Commonwealth Games... Max they said they would renew for 1 month....

Olly, do you mean range will be closed during the renovation ?

Well, that's what is understood.... unless some wise one decides to hand over the range in phases....

Am I allowed to practice with my IHP .177 caliber Air Rifle at the Karni Singh Shooting range?
Do I still need to have a license if the agenda is only to shoot air rifles?
I was kind of hoping to do it the other way round. Get the range membership, practice, participate and at some point apply for license quoting shooting sport as reason, show participation evidence if required to make a genuine case.
Is that going to work?
Regards,
Virendra

Hi,
Can anyone just go and target practice at KSR or is it necessary to become a member?
In other words:
Is there any pay and use facility per visit at KSR and also whether is it open on Saturday/sunday?
P.S. Target practice for REVOLVER AND PISTOL

They used to have pay and play earlier and while it is still officially on the books, you will not be allowed to shoot by the range administration unless you become a member.

My 10 cents here.
I took membership in Oct 2012 and I am to renew it.
You can shoot fire Arm as long as you have valid licence
Else you can shoot only Airgun
There are .22 rifles / 12 bore shotguns available on rent if you have lincense.
only couple of working Air rifles were available as told to me.
You will have to carry eevry thing required for shooting as ammo, targets, clay, rubberband etc etc
the 1500 for three months are just to step on that land unless you have access to every thing required.
If you have license thats local (outside Delhi) NRAI will not hand over Ammo, if you have permision but limit of 50 or 30 ammo/Year you are stuck again.
Thanks all what I have got I am still hopeful that I will make it to a Medal list one day
All the best
