whats AR training ?

To best of my knowledge there are no training academy for shotgun, but yea on range you can hook with quite a few ppl. If you are on karni singh you can ask for Bedi sir or anwar sultan, they are main trainer in my knowledge in delhi, but they are all at individual level

Go to the range, find out who the coaches are, contact them and take at least 2-4 weeks intensive coaching (4 days a week or more).

Since you know absolutely nothing about shotguns, I'd suggest you take a couple of months of coaching.

Keep aside a budget of at least ₹10 lacs, for shotgun, ammo, clays, coaching and range fees.

Why this type of passion is so expensive in India?

1) Minium 4-6 lacs for gun (because imports are banned).

2) ₹40 per round from NRAI/ most clubs, because ammo is not freely importable.

3) minium ₹5 per clay target, because no one makes good ones here as the volumes don't seem to be sufficient to set up a plant.

So, assuming you shoot 7000 rounds ie 3.15 lacs (ammo + clays)

Then you pay for coaching which is ₹2500-5000 per day or more, depending on coach.

Lastly you need to pay range fees which are about ₹3000 per month in Delhi.

Do the math...

Does a shotgun really costs 4-6 lacs? How does the "aam aadmi" afford shotgun then?

You can get Indian made shotguns for ₹20,000 onwards, but they are less than useless for trap/skeet/double trap.

Take it up if you have the financial backing, else go for small bore rifle/ handgun disciplines.

A frank discussion with your parents would be the first step IMHO.

Cheers!
